GITAM GAT Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The exam pattern for GITAM GAT 2017 has been announced by the GITAM University. The exam will take place from April 16 to April 30, 2017 at different GITAM GAT Test Centers. The exam is taken online and candidates are only allowed to give this exam once every year.

The University holds 25% of seats for meritorious students from Karnataka State for admission at Bengaluru Campus. GITAM GAT 2017 has multiple choice questions of four marks each. Each incorrect answer deducts one mark from the candidate’s total. The unanswered questions go unmarked. The duration of the test will be two hours.

Aspiring candidates can also appear for a mock test taken by the GITAM University to get candidates familiar with the types of questions asked, and how to manage the three sections in the given time frame. GITAM Results will be annonced in online mode on May 05, 2016. 


GITAM GAT 2017 Exam Pattern

GITAM GAT PGT is an online exam with a duration of two hours. The language of the test will be English. GAT PGT will consist of three sections that have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The questions vary from student to student as a number of sets are generated from a large question bank. An expert committee ensures that the question sets are of equal standard level, content, question type, etc.

Each question has a weightage of 4 marks. For each wrong answer, the candidate will get one mark reduced from his/her total marks. Unanswered questions will be awarded no marks. The section-wise detail of the GITAM GAT are as follows:

GITAM GAT 2017 Syllabus

The syllabus for GITAM GAT is released by the University for every section separately. It is important for the candidates to know the GITAM GAT syllabus so that they can start working on their weak points and strengthening their strong points. The section-wise syllabus, along with the total number of questions in that section, is given below:

GITAM GAT PGT Mock Test

Candidates can appear for a mock test to prepare better for the GAT Test. The mock test gives a fair idea of the type of questions asked, and how to finish the exam in the given amount of time. Given below are some of the points regarding the GAT PGT Mock test:

  • The mock test is of 30 minutes’ duration, although the actual exam is of 120 minutes.
  • To appear for the mock test, candidates will have to agree the terms and conditions.
  • There are a number of symbols that will be used in the test, which will be explained before the exam begins.
  • Like the actual exam, the test will be divided into three parts. Candidates will have to choose which section they want to attempt first.
  • A timer will appear and start on the screen when the test is started. The test will be over once the timer hits zero.

Exam Day Instructions

Below are some of the instructions for any candidate who wants to appear for GITAM GAT:

  • GITAM GAT Hall Tickets will not be sent by post.
  • The candidate should arrive at the GAT PGT Test center one hour before the commencement of the examination. An on-site orientation will take place before the exam. If the candidate arrives after the orientation, he/she will not be allowed to take the examination.
  • Those candidates who arrive late are most likely to miss some of the important guidelines about the examination.
  • The test hall will be opened 30 minutes before the commencement of the GAT Test.
  • As the GAT PGT takes place in online mode, the candidate must be familiar with a computer and its basic functions, like how to use the keyboard/mouse, etc.
  • The candidate should make sure that the computer allotted to him/her is working properly. If not, he/she should inform the Proctor immediately.
  • After the test is completed, the computer will display the result in terms of total number of correct answers, total number of wrong answers, and the net score.
  • The candidate can give the exam only once a year.
  • In case of a tie, the method adopted for resolving it shall be in the order of scores in mathematics / biology, physics, chemistry, and age of the candidate.
  • The result will be declared 10 days after the completion of GAT 2017.
  • GATE qualified candidates are exempted from appearing for GITAM GAT, however they need to apply to GITAM University for admission before the last date and the candidate has to attend counselling as per the schedule.
  • No candidate will be allowed to go outside the test hall till the completion of the entire duration of the test. Once a candidate leaves the test hall, he/she will not be permitted to re-enter the test hall under any circumstances.
  • 25% of seats are reserved for meritorious students from Karnataka State for admission at Bengaluru Campus.
