DU LLB 2017 Exam Pattern

The Delhi University Bachelor of Law entrance test is held every year to admit eligible students for its LLB and Masters of Law (LLM) program by conducted by Faculty of Law, Delhi University. The DU LLB entrance this year is to be held on June 19 - June 23. While the application forms are filled and submitted in the online mode, the exam is held in the offline mode across various centres of the University of Delhi.

Admission to this illustrious college is made on the merit as marks scored in the entrance test. Last year for the 2611 seats up for admission 13,267 applications were received. As the figures show, this a highly competitive and challenging exam. The results for the DU LLB are expected to be announced on June 21, 2017 with the issue merit list also in the same week, though this is still tentative. The counselling for admission is expected to begin from the third week of July, 2017.

Syllabus DU LLB 2017

The syllabus for the DU LLB Entrance Exam consists of questions from the topics listed below:

  • English language and Comprehension- This section includes reading comprehension, idioms and phrases, antonyms, synonyms, jumbled sentences, one word substitute etc.
  • Current Affairs- In this section, questions pertain to the recent happening, important news etc. mostly of the past one year. In brief, the candidates should be thoroughly aware of their surroundings.
  • General Knowledge- There is no specific syllabus for this. The candidates are advised to have a comprehensive understanding of various topics in varied subjects like history, geography, and economics among others in general.
  • Quantitative Aptitude- The syllabus for this includes preliminary mathematics (up to X grade). Questions on speed and distance, profit and loss, average ratio have been quite often asked.
  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning- This includes data based questions, coding, decoding, relations etc.
  • Legal Awareness and Aptitude- The syllabus for this includes current legal knowledge, questions based on reasoning and principle, constitution, fundamental rights and duties. An in-depth knowledge of the country’s judiciary, legislature. Also includes basics of criminal law, civil law and law of tort.

Exam Pattern DU LLB 2017

The DU LLB entrance is a 2 hour long paper with a total of 175 objective type multiple choice questions to be answered. The total marks of the paper is 700. Every question in the entrance test carries 4 marks. For every correct answer, the candidate is rewarded 4 marks while for every wrong answer there is a negative marking of 1 mark. No marks are awarded or deducted for unanswered questions. The language of the entrance test is English only.

It has been observed that usually 15 minutes go in the filling up of details in the OMR sheet leaving the candidate with 105 minutes to answer the questions, 35 seconds per questions to be precise. The break up of the total 175 questions is explained below:

Instructions For Appearing In Test

  • Candidates are required to report at the allotted center of the test 30 minutes before the start of the test on the assigned date and time. Any candidate reaching after the commencement of the test will not be allowed to enter the examination hall.
  • It is mandatory for the all the candidates to bring their e-admit cards failing which they will be debarred from taking the entrance test along with a valid identity proof.
  • The admit card of DU LLB 2017 shall contain the instructions regarding the exam besides containing other important information like roll number, parent’s name, date of birth, date and venue of exam. The candidates must check the same for any discrepancy before the exam.
  • Moreover, candidates are advised to keep their admit cards safely until the admission process is completed.
  • The candidate is prohibited from carrying any books, papers, cellular devices/phones, calculators, digital diaries and pagers inside the examination hall.
  • If any candidate is found guilty of the breach of rules or of using unfair means, he/she will be punished by the competent authority including cancellation of his/her candidature.
  • Furnishing of false, wrong or inaccurate information may lead to cancellation of the test result, admission, examination, forfeiture of degree and even prosecution in appropriate cases.
