DU LLB 2017 Eligibility

Delhi University Bachelor of Laws Entrance Exam, commonly known as DU LLB entrance exam. It is a national level entrance exam which is conducted by the DU authority every year. This exam is conducted to provide admission in 3 year Bachelor of Law in the colleges associated with Delhi University. Faculty of Law, University of Delhi is the conducting authority of DU LLB entrance exam. There are 3 participating institutes under DU- Campus Law Center, Law Center I and Law Center II.  Every year around 15,000 candidates across India apply for DU LLB 2017 Entrance Exam.

The application forms DU LLB 2017 will be released in May 2017. on the DU law official website. Aspirants need to fill these forms online on time before the closing date. A login ID and password will be obtained when you complete the registration process online. An application fee of INR 500 must be paid during DU LLB 2017 application process. This year the entrance exam will be conducted on June 07, 2017. The mode of DU LLB 2017 Entrance Exam will be English language only.

Eligibility Criteria

For admission in LLB Course, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. For General and Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates: Candidates must possess Graduation or Post Graduation Degree from the University of Delhi or any other Indian or Foreign University recognized as equivalent by the University of Delhi.
  2. Candidates must score at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade point in the aggregate in either of them. But, the cut off marks for admission of OBC candidates shall be up to 10% less than the marks notified for general candidates in the Entrance Test.
  3. Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.
  4. Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to widows/wards of defence personnel (CW) category.
  5. Relaxation of up to 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to the candidates belonging to physically handicapped (PH) category on the recommendations of the Medical Board.

Reservation Criteria

Out of 2611 seats that are offered in LLB course of Delhi University, a total of 301 seats are under reservation for supernumerary categories including those who are Physically Handicapped, War Widows and Foreign Nationals. Delhi University follows the Bar Council of India (BCI), University Grants Commission (UGC) and Government of India rules and regulations in order to offer relaxation seats to the reserved categories.

Total number of seats in LLB admissions 2017-2018 are 2310 and supernumerary seats are 301. Reservation for current year is explained below:

Following is the reservation criteria for candidates approaching admission in Law Institutes under Delhi University-

  1. Candidates who are claiming reservation under more than one category must indicate all those categories while filling the application form.
  2. If there is any vacant seat in SC category, it can be filled by ST category candidate and vice versa.
  3. Reservation for OBC candidates can be granted on basis of Central list.
  4. If there are vacant seats under reservation, they will be allotted to eligible candidates belonging to general category.
  5. Although, supernumerary seats will not be allotted to any other candidate, if left vacant.
  6. The Widows/ Wards of defence personnel (CW) shall be admitted as per 5 priorities listed below:-
  1. Widows/ Wards of Defence personnel killed in action;
  2. Wards of serving personnel and ex-servicemen disabled in action;
  3. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel who died in peace time with death attributable to military service;
  4. Wards of Defence personnel disabled in peace time with disability attributable to military service;
  5. Wards of Ex-servicemen Personnel and serving personnel of the Defence/Armed Forces and all Police Forces who are in receipt of Gallantry Awards.
  1. The Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates shall be admitted according to the following categories:-
  1. Person with low vision or blindness- 1%
  2. Person having hearing impaired- 1%
  3. Person with  loco motor disabilities and/or cerebral palsy 1%
