DNB CET 2016 Counselling

DNB CET 2016 conducts a centralized merit based counselling so that only deserving candidates can be selected. Candidates who have cleared the DNB CET 2016 cut off defined by NBE will only be able to participate in the DNB CET 2016 counselling. The counselling for DNB CET 2016 is expected to commence in the 2nd week of October 2016.

After the declaration of DNB CET 2016 Results, candidates can apply for the DNB CET 2016 Counselling. Admission to DNB CET 2016 is decided by minimum 3 and maximum 4 rounds of DNB CET 2016 counselling. Candidates appearing in any of the rounds of counselling of DNB CET 2016 are decided on the basis of their merit positions obtained in DNB CET 2016 Merit List. The merit positions of the candidates are decided by the marks obtained by them in DNB CET 2016.

There are fixed number of seats available in all NBE accredited Medical Colleges/Institutions/Hospitals in India in which some are reserved for certain categories. NBE also facilitates online counselling which is carried out at the official website and is completely transparent but allotment of seats are done for the candidates appearing in person.


DNB CET 2016 Counselling Eligibility

Those candidates who meet the following requirements are eligible for attending the DNB CET 2016 counselling:

  • Candidates qualifying the Centralized Entrance test which was conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE) and meet the eligibility criteria for admission to DNB broad Specialty that includes 6 years courses at NBE accredited medical colleges or hospitals can attend the DNB CET 2016 Counselling.
  • Any candidate who is currently pursuing any post graduate medical course and wish to join the DNB seat can be allotted seat by NBE only in the case if he has resigned from the course.
  • Candidates who are already pursuing a DNB course cannot appear for the DNB CET till the time they have completed their prescribed course. Also, all those candidates are too not eligible to appear for the DNB CET July 2016 who joined DNB broad specialty course in or after January 2014 or have joined the DNB- super specialty course which is of 6 years. But all those candidates (above mentioned) who have resigned or discontinued the course for some or the other reason can appear in the DNB CET July 2016.
  • Candidates can also participate in the further rounds of DNB CET 2016 counselling online through the official website till the day of scheduled counselling. This facility of opting the further round of counselling online can be used by accessing the official website from anywhere by the candidate. He will be given the opportunity to participate in the further rounds of counselling as and when conducted and shall not be marked as absent. Also, by opting the online option, candidate needs not to appear for the DNB CET 2016 counselling in-person.
  • Candidates who will not appear in his scheduled round of DNB CET 2016 counselling through either of the options will not be allowed to participate in further rounds of counselling.
  • If any kind of ineligibility is detected at any stage of the counselling then necessary actions can be taken by NBE. Admission to DNB course can be cancelled and candidate can be debarred from taking any further examinations conducted by NBE.
  • Candidates who have opted for a confirmed seat will not be allowed to participate in the further rounds of DNB CET 2016 counselling no matter they join, don’t join or resign from the opted seat.

Along with these, all candidates scoring the merit position from 6001 to 17000 and meet the eligibility criteria for admission to concerned courses can participate in the second round of counselling.
Extended second roundAll those candidates who appeared in the second round of counselling are eligible to appear in the extended second round. Along with these, all candidates scoring merit position from 17001 up to last qualified candidate and meet the eligibility criteria for admission to concerned courses can participate in the extended second round of counselling.
Third round (if conducted)Only those candidates who appeared in the extended second round of counselling can participate in the third round of counselling.

DNB CET 2016 Counselling Procedure

NBA is the conducting authority of DNB CET 2016. The very first step to participate in counselling is to check the eligibility. Only eligible candidates can DNB CET 2016 counselling. All those candidates who are termed as eligible as per the merit list will be able to download their rank letter for participation. In accordance with the availability of seats, candidates should be ready with the DD of counselling fee. After paying the counselling fee, there will be a step of document verification. Candidates appearing in counselling have to show their documents.

Availability of Seats

Before the commencement of the counselling, final list of availability of seats is displayed at the counselling venue itself. Along with this, it is also uploaded on the official website and the indicative information is also available in the information bulletin. Some of the provisions in the seat matrix are as follows:

  • There are seats reserved for certain categories which are allotted to the candidates of these categories only. Candidates who belong to the reserved categories have two options. Either to opt the reserved seats earmarked for them or unreserved seats in order of their specific merit.
  • The number of reserved seats in DNB CET is decided by the respective institution only. NBE has no ownership for any seats as such, neither it possess or fund any seat.
  • The DNB CET 2016 counselling is completely done on the basis of the merit position of the candidates. The merit position so obtained is decided on the basis of the marks obtained by the individual in DNB CET 2016.
  • If two or more candidates get equal marks, then the tie breaker criteria is used to determine their merit position.

Allotment of Seats by Personal Appearance

As per the official schedule of DNB CET 2016 counselling, eligible candidates will be allotted seats only through personal appearance and the order of their merit positions will decide their batches. Following things need to be taken care by the candidates during the seat allotment:

  • In order to participate in the DNB CET 2016 counselling at the scheduled time, candidate should be present in person. Only after the due approval of NBE, authorized representative is allowed to appear in the counselling on the behalf of candidate and that too under exceptional circumstances.
  • After the first round of DNB CET 2016 counselling, candidates will be notified for the further round of counselling through official website.
  • Candidates can also participate in the further rounds of counselling online through the official website till the day of scheduled counselling. This facility of opting the further round of counselling online can be used by accessing the official website from anywhere by the candidate. He will be given the opportunity to participate in the further rounds of counselling as and when conducted and shall not be marked as absent. Also, by opting the online option, candidate needs not to appear for the counselling in-person.
  • Candidates who will not appear in his scheduled round of counselling through either of the options will not be allowed to participate in further rounds of DNB CET 2016 counselling.
  • Any change in the seat once allotted is not allowed under any circumstances.
  • The DNB CET 2016 counselling is completely done on the basis of the merit position of the candidates. The merit position so obtained is decided on the basis of the marks obtained by the individual in DNB CET 2016. If two or more candidates get equal marks, then the tie breaker criteria is used to determine their merit position.
  • All the eligible candidates must visit the official website regularly in order to get regular updates related to DNB CET 2016 counselling as no separate communication via letter or SMS will be sent to the candidates.
  • Candidates need to download their RANK Letters from the official website and bring them along with them at the time of DNB CET 2016 counselling.

DNB CET 2016 Counselling Fee

The fee for DNB CET 2016 counselling is Rs. 2,500/- which is need to be paid by each and every candidate who wishes to participate in the DNB CET July 2016 counselling.

  • The counselling fee needs to be paid through demand draft of Rs. 2,500/- drawn in favor of National Board of Counselling payable at New Delhi. Candidates appearing in the DNB CET 2016 counselling need to bring the above mentioned demand draft with them on the day of counselling at the counselling venue itself. Any candidate who doesn’t bring the demand draft for any reason will not be allowed to participate in the counselling.
  • Those candidates opting to participate in the further round of DNB CET 2016 counselling online through NBE website must remit their counselling fee through payment gateway provided using a Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by banks.
  • After registering for the DNB CET 2016 counselling at the counselling venue, the DNB CET 2016 counselling fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Documents Required For DNB CET 2016 Counselling

Candidates attending the counselling need to bring the following documents in original with them on the day of DNB CET 2016 counselling:

  • DNB CET 2016 Result certificate
  • Rank letter DNB CET 2016 January session
  • Pass certificate of MBBS/MBBS degree certificate
  • Council for registration of MBBS qualification recognized as per IMC Act/Central government.
  • Permanent registration certificate issued by state school/MCI
  • Certificate for Internship Completion (With the completion date mentioned on it which must be on or before 31st January 2016)
  • Higher secondary certificate as a proof of date of birth
  • Caste certificate (SC/ST/PWD/OBC) issued by the legal authority
  • Any document which can be used to confirm the name of the institution from where the candidate pursued the degree of MBBS
  • Any other kind of relevant certificate that adds to your qualification

Note: Only those candidates are allowed to submit the provisional certificate for MBBS who have passed their qualification in the year 2015. All those candidates who have passed  the degree before 2015 and still the certificate has not been issued to them by the university/ board, then valid evidence in the form of letter from respective board/ institution need to be issued and presented by the candidate at the time of counselling.

  • Candidates are required to bring the above mentioned documents in original. Anyone not bringing the original documents will not be allowed to participate in the counselling.
  • The above mentioned documents must be either in Hindi or in English. If the document is in any regional language, then candidate is required to bring the original translated version of the certificate which should be authenticated by Gazetted Officer.
  • Candidates opting for a confirmed seat and fulfilling the DNB CET 2016 eligibility criteria will be issued Seat Allotment Letter on the same day of the DNB CET 2016 counselling.

Procedure of Registration with NBE for DNB Course

Each of the candidates will be given a defined time from the date of issuance of the allotment letter to report and join the allotted NBE accredited Medical college/ Institution/ Hospital. For joining, candidates have to deposit the prescribed DNB Course fee at the accredited hospital/ institute to resume his/her duties as a DNB trainee.

To get registered by NBE for the DNB course, all candidates must submit the following mentioned documents to NBE within the one month of joining DNB training:

  • DNB CET 2016 Application form for July 2016 admission session which is duly completed.
  • For 3-year course registration fee is Rs. 5,000/- and for 6-year course , it is Rs. 10,000/- which need to be paid through challan or pay-in-slip at any if the Indian Bank branch across India. The photocopy of the challan must be submitted along with the registration form.
  • Annexure-A (CET-2016)

After the candidate has registered himself with NBE, he can download registration letter from NBE official website. In case if any ineligible candidate gets admission to DNB course, then NBE has the right to revoke his admission from the course.

Provisional Availability of Seats for DNB CET July 2016 Admission Session

  • The indicative list showing the availability of DNB seats for July 2016 admission seats will be available at Annexure-E Part 1 and Annexure-E Part 2
  • The decision of NBE and response of participating hospitals and institutions has direct effect on availability of seats.
  • It is compulsory to fill all the DNB seats at NBE accredited hospitals or institutions through centralized counselling only.
  • Before the start of counselling, the final list of available seats will be notified at the official website.

Ques. What is the registration fee for DNB CET 2016? Can I pay it through Cheque?

Ans: For 3-year course registration fee is Rs. 5,000/- and for 6-year course, it is Rs. 10,000/-. No you can’t pay it through cheque. It must be paid through challan or pay-in-slip at any of the Indian Bank branch across India.
