CUCET Exam Pattern 2017 provides details about subject-wise marking scheme, distribution of marks, time duration and alike. The exam pattern for CUCET 2017 is set by CURAJ (Central University of Rajasthan).

  • Single paper divided into 2 parts: Part A and Part B.
  • Part A is common for all test takers and it consists of 25 questions.
  • Part B covers Domain Knowledge and carries 75 questions.
  • Duration of both the exams is 2 hours. 
  • Candidate has to mark only one answer on the OMR sheet.
  • If a candidate marks more than one circle, then the question will be considered as wrong.

CUCET Answer Key 2017

CUCET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test) is conducted every year in the month of JuneThe exam is conducted jointly by 10 central participating universities. CUCET exam is held for admission into UG & Integrated, PG, M.Tech, B.Ed, M.Ed, M.Pharma, PG Diploma, M.Phil and Phd courses in 10 Central Universities of India. The exam is scheduled for May 17 – 18, 2017 in offline mode.

CUCET Exam Pattern 2017 

CUCET exam is majorly divided into 3 exams: UG/Integrated Programs, PG/B.Ed./Integrated M.Sc B.Ed/PG Diploma Programs and MPhil/PhD. Programs. Questions in CUCET consists of multiple choice type objective questions. Each exam is divided into 2 parts- Part A and Part B. Part A consists of 25 questions and 75 questions consist in Part B. Negative marking prevails in CUCET exam.

Total time duration of CUCET 2017 is 2 hours. CUCET exam pattern Part A covers questions from English Language, General Awareness, Mathematical Aptitude and Analytical Skills.

There are 100 questions in CUCET 2017

CUCET Exam Pattern Part B covers Domain Knowledge. This part contains 75 multiple choice type questions. This part may consist of 1/2/3 or more sections. Each section can have 25 or more questions depending upon the courses. Candidate should answer a set of ‘X’ sections (75 questions) as specified on the front cover of the test question booklet. However, they must make sure to fill the right circles in the OMR Sheet corresponding to the question numbers attended.

For example, if Part B consists of 4 subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology and the instruction says that a candidate has to attempt any three subjects to choose as PCB or PCM according to the subjects studied by the candidate in class 12. If a candidate attempts all the questions from all the sections then the best of the 3 sections shall be considered while preparing the merit list.

For Admission to some Integrated Courses/MBA/LLB or any other general course(s), only one paper comprising of 100 MCQs covering English Language, Reasoning, Data Interpretations/Numerical Ability, General Awareness and Analytical Skills will be held.

Each candidate has to mark only one answer on the OMR sheet. If a candidate marks more than one circle, then the question will be considered as wrong.


CUCET Exam Pattern for UG and Integrated Programs 

UG and Integrated Programs are divided into 3 streams: B.Voc (Bachelor of Vocational) in Interior Designing, Arts and Science. The detailed course list for science stream is enlisted in the following table:

CUCET exam pattern of science stream consists of 2 parts: Part A and Part B. Part A comprises 25 MCQs from the following discipline: English, Numerical Aptitude/Data Interpretation, Analytical Skills, Reasoning, General Aptitude and General Knowledge.

Part B: This part comprises 75 MCQs. Physics and Chemistry are mandatory for all the candidates. However, only one section has to be attempted from Mathematics and Biology. In case, a candidate answers both Mathematics and Biology Sections, best of 3 sections will be evaluated and considered for CUCET result preparation.

  • The Question Booklet for this section contains 100 multiple choice questions.
  • There is only one most appropriate correct answer for each question.
  • All questions carry equal marks. Negative marking is applicable in CUCET 2017. Each correct answer carries 03 marks and for each wrong answer, 01 mark will be deducted.
  • If you darken more than one circle for the question, it will be deemed as an an incorrect answer. Any change in the answer once marked is NOT allowed.
  • Total time allowed for the paper is 2 hours.

CUCET exam pattern for arts stream includes only one test paper. The question paper comprises 100 MCQs from the following discipline: English, Numerical Aptitude/Data Interpretation, Analytical Skills, Reasoning, General Aptitude and General Knowledge. CUCET Exam Pattern for M.Phil, PhD and Research Program 

CUCET exam pattern for research programs is similar to UGC CSIR and other NET JRF exam. The pattern for the single paper objective test is given below:

  • MCQ test paper of each subject will carry a maximum of 200 marks.
  • The duration of exam is 3 hours.
  • The question paper is divided into 3 parts:
  1. Part 'A' is common to all subjects. This part contains a maximum of 20 questions of General Aptitude. It is mandatory to attempt 15 questions of 2 marks each. The total marks allocated to this section is 30 out of 200.
  2. Part 'B' contains subject-related conventional MCQs. Total marks allocated to this section is 70 out of 200. The maximum number of questions to be attempted is in the range of 20-35.
  3. Part 'C' contains higher value questions that may test the candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions are of analytical in nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem. The total marks allocated to this section is 100 out of 200.
  • Negative marking prevails in CUCET for wrong answers.

CUCET Exam Pattern for PG/B.Ed./Integrated M.Sc B.Ed/PG Diploma Programs

CUCET exam pattern for PG/B.Ed./Integrated M.Sc B.Ed/PG Diploma Programs includes only one test paper. The question paper comprises 100 MCQs from the following discipline: General Awareness, Language and Domain Knowledge as per the course. PG/B.Ed./Integrated M.Sc B.Ed/PG Diploma Programs are divided into a total of 59 courses. Candidates can opt for them according to their eligibility criteria.

  • The Question Booklet for this section contains 100 MCQs.
  • CUCET Exam Pattern for PG/B.Ed./Integrated M.Sc B.Ed/PG Diploma Programs is divided into 2 parts: Part A and Part B.
  • Part A consists of 25 MCQs and Part B consists of 75 MCQs.
  • To every question, there is only one most appropriate correct answer.
  • All questions carry equal marks. Negative marking is applicable in CUCET 2017.
  • For every correct answer, 03 marks will be awarded and for wrong marked answers, 01 mark will be deducted from each as the penalty.
  • If you have darkened more than 01 circle for the question, it will be considered as an incorrect answer.
  • Any change in the answer once marked is NOT allowed.
  • Total time allowed for the CUCET exam is 2 hours.

CUCET exam pattern for B.Ed. differs from other courses. However, the number of questions and marking scheme is same. It consists of 3 parts-

  1. Part A (25 MCQs): General Awareness
  2. Part B (35 MCQs): Teaching Aptitude
  3. Part C (40 MCQs): It is further divided into 4 sub-sections. Candidates have to attempt any one section from them as per the eligibility.

CUCET 2017 Marking Scheme 

The marking scheme of the question papers for all the entrance tests is same. There is a provision of negative marking for every wrong marked answer. Every question carries 3 marks. However, for every wrong marked answer, 1 mark is deducted. If questions are left unanswered, no mark will be awarded or deducted. These questions will not be assessed and will not be considered while preparing the merit list.

CUCET Syllabus for UG/Integrated Programs (3/4/5 years)

For UG entrances, candidates have to refer any 3 of the following subjects. The syllabus is based on the general Class 10+2 level syllabus for the respective courses:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics
  • Biology

Apart from this, for Part A of CUCET Exam for UG courses, there is no definite official syllabus. However, the questions will be asked from– English Language, General Awareness, Mathematical Aptitude and Analytical Skills subjects.

CUCET Syllabus for PG/B.Ed./Integrated M.Sc B.Ed/PG Diploma Programs vary with the course. The CUCET Syllabus for MPhil/PhD programs will be same as that prescribed for UGC- CSIR or NET-JRF. Check the detailed syllabus for CUCET exam from the table given below:
