CTET 2017 Exam Pattern

CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education on February 18, 2017. It is very important for each and every candidate who aspires to appear in CTET Exam, to know the CTET Exam Pattern.

The CTET exam is conducted for two parts. First part is for class I to V teacher andsecond part for class VI to VIII. The total questions in each paper will be 150 and each question carry equal marks. The time duration of CTET is 2:30 hours. The questions in first paper consist from Child development and pedagogy, Language I and II, Mathematics and environmental studies subjects.


CTET Time Schedule 2017

It is very necessary for every applicant to keep a track of CTET 2017 Time Schedule so that he/she can successfully appear in CTET Examination. Given Below is table of Time scheduleof CTET 2017 Exam. Two papers of CTET 2017 are conducted in two shifts i.e. morning shift and in evening shift, as described in the table below:

CTET Exam Structure 2017

CTET 2017 Examination is structured in two papers i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper I of CTET 2017 is for those candidates who intends to become a teacher for classes I to V.

Whereas, Paper 2 of CTET 2017 is for the candidates who wish to teach students of classes VI to VIII.  If an applicant wants to be a teacher for both levels i.e. from classes I to V and classes VI to VIII, then in such a case, that applicant have to appear in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of CTET 2017. Language of CTET 2017 Question Paper is bilingual. Questions will be asked in both Hindi and English languages.

All questions in CTET Test are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each question has four alternatives given, out of which one answer is correct. Each correct answer carry one mark. There is no negative marking for wrong answers attempted by the candidate in any of the Paper 1 and Paper 2 ofCTET 2017.

CTET 2017 Paper 1 Pattern

Paper 1 of CTET 2017 is conducted for the teachers of class I to V. Questions asked in the test for this primary stage are in MCQ form. Paper 1 consists of total 150 MCQs worth of 150 marks. Total time that is provided to complete Paper 1 of 150 MCQs to the candidates is of 2 hours and 30 mins. CTET 2017 Paper 1 Pattern is described in the table given below:

CTET 2016 Paper 2 Pattern

Paper 2 of CTET 2017 is conducted for the teachers of class VI to VIII. It consists of total 150 MCQs worth of 150 marks. Total time that is provided to complete Paper 2 of 150 MCQs to the candidates is of 2 hours and 30 mins. CTET 2017 Paper 2 Pattern is described in the table given below:

Instructions For Conduction of CTET Exam 2017

The candidate has to bring his/her own blue/black ball point pen of good quality

  • No assistance is provided for such materials at the CTET Exam Center
  • After getting the CTET Test Booklet, the candidates must immediately fill in all the required particulars on the front page of the booklet with blue or black ball point pen only
  • A candidate must not open the Test Booklet until invigilator asks the candidates to do so
  • No candidate is allowed to open or break the seal of CTET 2017 Question booklet unless and until an announcement is made for the same
  • After breaking or opening the seal of CTET Test-booklet, the candidate must check that the test-booklet contains the same number of pages as mentioned on the first page of the Test-booklet
  • In case of any discrepancy in Test booklet i.e. page missing, tear pages and misprinting, the same has to be informed to the invigilator  
  • The candidate must not remove any page from the Test-Booklet during the CTET 2017 Test
  • If any candidate is found to remove any page from the CTET Test Booklet it is considered as the use of unfair means and is liable for criminal action
  • The candidate has to sign twice on the Attendance Sheet at the appropriate place. First at the commencement of the CTET 2017 Test and secondly while handing over OMR Sheet to the Invigilator

Instructions for Disabled Candidates

In accordance with the Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Department of Disability guidelines the following instructions are applicable regarding differently abled candidates during the conduct of CTET 2017:

  • The differently abled candidates who make use of scribe or amanuensis, are given compensatory time of 40 minutes in each paper of CTET Examination.
  • The candidates with disability who do not avail the facility of scribe are also allowed the compensatory time of 40 minutes
  • The facility of scribe or amanuensis is allowed to only to those candidates who has disability of 40% or more
  • The candidate is permitted to opt of his/her own scribe/amanuensis or may be provided by the Centre Superintendent on his/her request
  • Such candidates are advised to request the center superintendent for amanuensis one day before the CTET 2016 Examination in between 10 am to 1 pm
  • There is no criteria for educational qualification or age for the scribe/ amanuensis
  • A fixed seating arrangement is displayed prior to the commencement of Examination to avoid confusion
  • The time of distribution of the question paper must be marked accurately
  • Timely supply of question paper meant for visually impaired candidates is ensured
  • There is flexibility in accommodating any change in scribe or reader, in case of emergency.
  • The candidate is allowed to take more than one scribe or reader for writing different papers
  • A separateCTET 2016 Question Paper is made available for Visually Impaired candidates

CTET OMR Sheet 2017

In CTET 2017, candidates are provided the OMR sheets along with the test booklet. A candidate is supposed to mark the right answer of each question in the provided CTET 2017 OMR Sheet. A candidate must fill all the attempts very neatly and carefully as, no extra CTET OMR Sheet is provided to any candidate under any circumstances. So, it is very important for each candidate to know how to fill the CTET OMR Sheet properly. Given below are the instructions that a candidate must follow while handling.

CTET 2017 OMR Sheet:

  • OMR Sheet is placed inside the sealed CTET 2017 Test Booklet
  • A candidate can only open or break the seal, to take out CTET OMR Sheet from the test booklet, after the announcement made by the invigilator 
  • Code like A, B, C or Dprinted on CTET 2017 OMR Sheet should be same as mentioned on CTET Test Booklet
  • The OMR Sheet must not be folded in any way
  • There must be no stray marks on the CTET 2017 OMR Sheet and CTET 2017 Roll No. should only be written in the provided space and not anywhere else
  • On the side 1 of CTET 2017 OMR Sheet, columns for candidate’s roll number, name of the candidate, father’s name, center number, name of the CTET 2017 Examination Centre and subject offered for Paper-II are given, that are to be filled in neatly and accurately by the candidate with blue/black ball point pen only
  • Use of pencil on CTET OMR Sheet is strictly prohibited
  • The side 2 of CTET 2017 OMR Sheet contains the columns, which are also to be filled by the candidate with blue/black ball point pen only, CTET 2017 Roll Number of the candidate, main test booklet number, language supplement booklet number, language supplement booklet code, subject offered for Paper-II, language in which candidate has attempted the questions and signature of the candidate
  • Out of four given alternatives for each question, only one circle for the correct answer is darkened completely with ball point pen, on CTET 2017 OMR Sheet
  • A candidate must bring his/her own ball point pen of good quality
  • Once a circle is darkened or filled, it cannot be changed
  • If any candidate uses the pencil instead of pen, for darkening the responses on OMR Sheet of CTET 2017 than his/her answer sheet gets rejected
  • A light, faintly and incomplete darkened circle is not the correct way to mark answers and is liable to get rejected by the Optical Scanner
  • If the candidate do not wish to attempt any question than he/she can leave the circle empty against the given question

Changes in CTET 2017 OMR Sheet

Following rules are to be followed by every candidate while filling up the CTET 2017 OMR Sheet:

  • No candidate is allowed to do any rough work on the CTET 2017 OMR Sheet
  • All rough work is to be done on the space provided in the CTET 2017 Test Booklet only
  • The candidate must ensure that the option he/she is marking in the CTET OMR Sheet is correct and he/she must be fully satisfied about the accuracy of the answer before darkening the appropriate circle
  • No changein answer that is once marked on the CTET OMR Sheet is allowed
  • Use of eraser or correction fluid on the CTET 2017 OMR Sheet is not permissible
  • CTET OMR Sheets are machine gradable and any kind of layering over the answer leads to wrong evaluation for which all responsibility lies on the candidate only

Copy of CTET OMR Sheet

CTET 2017 OMR Sheet is displayed on CTET official website. An offline notice is issued for the same in all the leading newspapers. The candidates can download CTET 2017 OMR Sheet in the provided time window.

A Candidate can also take a photocopy of his/her OMR Sheet of CTET 2016 by paying fee of INR 500 per OMR. One can pay this fees by way of Demand Draft generated in favor of Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Educationdrawn on any Nationalized Bank and payable at Delhi.
