CTET 2017 Application Process

CTET 2017 or Central Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). The candidates have to fill the CTET application form if he/she wishes to appear for the CTET Exam.

CTET application form has to be filled online. TET online test is mandatory to teach classes from I to VIII. The rule is applicable to all the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UT’s of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and NCT of Delhi.

The last date to submit the CTET Application Form is December 18, 2016. In case, the CTET application form is rejected the candidate can apply again only in the next turn.

CTET exam is an MCQ based exam. The applicant has to fill the correct answer in the OMR sheet. The answer sheets will be checked and marks will be awarded accordingly. The negative marking in CTET Exam is defined to keep the CTET Cut off high. CTET Exam is conducted in both English and Hindi language modes.

CTET Important Dates 2017

The candidate while working with the CTET 2017 must keep in mind all the important dates related to the CTET application process. The candidate cannot make any changes in the CTET application form after the last date of application form correction. The CTET application fee must also be paid before the last date. CTET Eligibility Criteria 2017

The candidate must read all the eligibility criteria defined by the CTET Exam committee to make sure that their application is not rejected. The basic requirement as per the guidelines is that the candidates must have cleared the minimum qualification as per the points are given below:

  • CTET Eligibility criteria for becoming Teacher for Classes I-V:  Primary Stage:  Candidate must have cleared 10+2 examination with minimum 50% marks and must have passed/ appearing for final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education / final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)/ Final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

The exception is there if the candidate has cleared class 12 exam with 45% marks and is appearing in the final year of a 2-year diploma. The other case of an exception is if the candidate possesses a graduation degree and has passed/appearing in final years of two year Diploma in Elementary Education.

  • CTET Eligibility Criteria for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VII:  Elementary Stage: The candidate must have cleared graduation with 45%/50% marks and has passed/appearing in 1-year  Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)/ final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/ final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/ 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

The exception is if the candidate has cleared class 12 examination with 50% marks and has passed/appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed./ passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).


CTET Document Specifications 2017

The scanned copy of the photograph and signature has to be uploaded in the CTET Application Form. The photograph must be recent and of passport size. The application form for CTET requires the applicant to upload the signature and photograph as per the specifications defined below:

The candidate must keep the following documents handy before filling the CTET application form:

  • A copy of class 10 certificate
  • A scanned copy of the photograph and signature
  • A credit/debit card for payment of the application fee

Important Instructions for CTET Form 2017

Important instructions to be followed while filling the CTET 2017 Application Form are as follows:

  • CTET online form can be filled in the online mode from December 06, 2016 to December 18, 2016.
  • All the information given in the CTET application brochure must be read thoroughly before working with the CTET application form.
  • The CTET online form has to be submitted through official website.
  • All the details must be supplied correctly for CTET 2017.
  • The application fee paid for CTET must be accompanied by an acknowledgement slip issued by the bank authorities.
  • The application fee is Rs.1000 in a lump sum for general category candidates and Rs.500 for reserved category candidates.
  • The application fee for CTET can also be paid through credit/debit card.
  • All the updates related to CTET will be sent on the mobile/email id registered.
  • The photograph and the image must be of the jpg format.
  • The application fee for CTET can be paid through bank challan or credit/debit card.
  • The recent passport size photograph and signature have to be uploaded at the places asked in the CTET application form.

CTET Application Fee and Mode of Payment 2017

The application fee for CTET is different for general and reserved categories. It can be paid through the Credit/Debit Card or Bank Challan. The application fee details for CTET are as follows:

  • The additional bank charges are applicable on the amount was given. The additional charges have to be borne by the candidate. The charges may vary with the banks. 
  • The payment done through the bank challan will require the candidate to take the acknowledgment receipt from the bank. The payment through credit/debit card will show the online pdf of successful payment.
  • The banks through which the payment is accepted is Syndicate bank or Canara bank.

Steps to Apply for CTET Exam 2017

A candidate can apply for CTET 2016 in 4 simple steps. The application form for CTET can be completed in the online mode only. The steps for the CTET form are as follows:

  1. Filling the CTET online form
  2. Upload the images
  3. Payment of CTET application fee
  4. Print confirmation page

Step 1: Filling the CTET online form

The candidate has to fill all the details such as name, date of birth, year of passing class X, XII and graduation. The details once submitted by clicking on the “Final submit” cannot be changed.

The registration number will be generated and displayed on the screen. Click on “Review page” if you wish to review the details before the final submit. The “next” option is available to check the next option available on the page.

Step 2: Upload the images

The scanned copy of the photograph and signature has to be uploaded. The scanned copy of JPG format is accepted by the system. The signature must be less than 30 KB and photograph must be less than 40 KB. Steps to upload documents are given below:

  • Click on the link to ‘Upload the Image’
  • Browse to the location on the computer where the Scanned Photograph or Signature has been saved.
  • Select Photograph/Signature to upload
  • Click on Upload button

Step 3: Payment of CTET application fee

The application fee has to be paid according to the category details. The application fee for both papers is Rs.1000 for general category candidates and Rs.500 for reserved category candidates. The application fee for CTET can be paid through bank challan or credit/debit card.

Payment via Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking:

If a candidate chooses to pay via Net Banking, then he or she is required to enter Username and Password. If a candidate is paying via Credit Card/Debit Card, then he/she must enter card number and pin.

Payment via offline mode:

In case candidate finds offline mode of payment convenient, he/she must generate e-Challan and pay the fee.  

Step 4: Print confirmation page

The payment of the application fee is the last step of CTET application process. The confirmation page is the last page that comes with all the details. The candidate must take the print out of the confirmation page and keep it safely for future reference. The candidate must not send the hard copy of the same to the CTET office.

How To Retrieve Lost CTET Registration Number 2017

The registration number is very important for CTET online form. The registration number if lost or forgotten can be retrieved easily by filling the form designed to obtain the lost registration number. The simple steps are:

  • Open the web browser and type the official CTET link.
  • On the page look for sub link for “Forgot Registration Number”.
  • Click on the link and a form will open on the screen.
  • Fill the form completely with the details of name, father’s name, mother’s name, D.O.B., category details, paper applied and security pin (displayed on screen).
  • Click on “Submit” button and the details will be emailed to your email address.

Changes in CTET Application Form 2017

Any changes in the CTET Application Form can be done in the online mode only from December 20, 2016 to January 25, 2017. The request for changes in the CTET Application Form made through letter or email will not be accepted. Any changes made to the category details require the applicant to pay the additional application fee.  The additional fee paid under the scheme requires the applicant to pay the fee through DD (Demand Draft). The DD is in favor of Secretary CBSE payable at Delhi.

It is also stated that due to non-receipt of application fee under such circumstances, the candidate can request for the confirmation over email. The email address only active for such request is The candidate must send the payment slip copy over the mail.

CTET Admit Card 2017

CTET Admit Card can be downloaded from the official website from January 15, 2016. The e-admit card for CTET will contain photograph and signature of the candidate. The admit card also state the details of reporting time, venue details and the time duration for each of the CTET exam.

In the case of any discrepancy in the CTET admit card, the candidate can send a mail and request for correction in the admit card. The last date to get the details corrected on the CTET admits card is September 2, 2016. CTET 2017 Admit Card also contains information regarding instructions that are to be followed at the CTET Exam Center.
