CSIR UGC NET 2017 Exam Pattern

CSIR UGC NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research UGC NET) exam is on June 18, 2017. UGC NET exam contains 3 sections and is to be completed in 3 hours. The candidate has to attempt all the sections to get selected. It will test the general as well as subjective knowledge of the applicant.

CSIR UGC NET is conducted in both the sessions. The morning session starts from 9.00 am and ends at 12.00 pm. The afternoon session starts at 2.00 pm and ends at 5.00 pm. The candidates who have a visual disability are awarded 40 extra minutes to work with the UGC NET question paper.

According to the CSIR UGC NET marking scheme, a candidate will be rewarded 1 mark for every correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. The UGC NET MCQ based exam is to be conducted in both Hindi and English languages.

CSIR UGC NET 2017 Marking Scheme

CSIR UGC NET exam will have 200 questions and a candidate will get a time of 2 hours to complete these questions. For every correct answer, 1 mark will be awarded to the candidate. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from the total score. In case two options are correct for a particular question then marks will be awarded for both the options.

The UGC NET time duration is increased for the visually disabled candidates. They can complete their test in 2 hours 40 minutes. UGC NET written test will be followed by a typing test. For every vacant seat, 5 candidates will be competing. This means that the seat: candidate ratio will be 1:5.

The UGC NET MCQ based exam will be conducted in two sessions. The morning and evening session details of UGC NET are as follows:

Some of the important points related to the CSIR UGC NET exam pattern are given below:

  • The UGC NET exam answer sheets will be distributed only 15 minutes before the exam.
  • The UGC NET question paper will be distributed 5 minutes before the exam.
  • The UGC NET reporting time is the half hour before the exam.
  • The candidates can take the duplicate copy of the UGC NET answer sheet with them, once the exam is over.
  • The candidates must be seated before 9.00 am.
  • The candidates can leave the examination hall only after the exam hours are over. No candidate can leave the examination hall even if he/she has completed the exam.
  • The UGC NET answer sheet must be filled with a black ball point pen only.
  • The candidates can take their UGC NET question paper with them once the exam is over.
  • The UGC NET question paper will be bilingual for the candidates who have opted to write the answer in Hindi medium.
  • The candidates who have filled English as their choice in UGC NET Application Form will get the UGC NET question paper printed in English only.
  • The candidate has to fill all the details of the UGC NET question paper in Black Ball point pen only.
  • The number of questions in a section can vary with the subject opted by the candidates.
  • The candidates can check the details of the subject wise exam on the official website after the MCQ based UGC NET exam is over.
  • For visually impaired candidates the time duration is increased by 40 minutes.
  • The visually impaired candidates have to bring their own magnifying glass to the examination hall.
  • The visually impaired candidates can request for the services of a scribe.
  • CSIR UGC NET MCQ based examination will contain questions based on class 12 syllabus.
  • The candidates selected will be called for the typing test. The candidates who will pass the typing test will be considered for final selection.

CSIR UGC NET 2017 Syllabus

 CSIR UGC Net paper will contain 3 parts; part A, B and C.  The UGC NET exam will contain subjects as follows:

  1. Chemical Science
  2. Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Science
  3. Life sciences
  4. Mathematical Science
  5. Physical Sciences

Part A: The part A of CSIR UGC net exam is common for all the exam participants. This section is designed to check the basic General Aptitude. The emphasis is given on testing the logical science, quantitative ability, graphical analysis, puzzles, questions on series, etc.
