CMC Vellore MBBS 2017 Eligibility
CMC Vellore MBBS 2017 accepts applications from Indian nationals only. Interested applicants for CMC Vellore MBBS 2017 must have completed or appeared in the final exam of 10+2/HSC or equivalent. The mandatory subjects in the qualifying exam are Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The minimum age requirement for CMC Vellore MBBS is 17 years.
Relaxation is provided to sponsored Christian students. For candidates who have studied abroad, the qualification equivalence is determined by the guidelines provided by Association of Indian Universities. Candidates are informed that final clearance will be given by Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai.
CMC Vellore 2017 intakes application from citizens of India only. All candidates go through the same admission procedure. There is NO NRI QUOTA. For candidates who have studied abroad, the equivalency of qualification is based on the guidelines provided by Association of Indian Universities. The final decision is made by Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. Foreign nationals are advised to meet the authorities at Dr. MGRM University.
Candidates must have completed Plus Two Examination of the Higher Secondary Board of Tamil Nadu or equivalent for the purpose of admission. Following educational qualifications are considered equivalent to it and candidates with such qualifications are also eligible.
Intermediate examination, Pre-Degree Examination or Plus Two Examination from any recognized Indian University or State Board.
The Senior Higher School Certificate Examination (12 years) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi with English as mandatory subject.
The Indian School Certificate Examination (12 years) conducted by the Council for Indian School Examination (CISCE).
Intermediate Examination (two year course) conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
Pre-University Examination (two year course) conducted by the Board of Pre-University Education, Government of Karnataka.
In case of foreign nationals, equivalent educational qualification is based on the guidelines by the Association of Indian Universities. However, candidates who have qualified overseas must get in touch with the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai.
Non-Indian nationals may take the computer based step 1 test and attend step-2. However, they will have to provide the required certificates to get necessary clearances before admission.
Percentage Criteria: Candidates for admission to MBBS programme must have at least 60% marks at 10+2 level in each of the mandatory subject viz. Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany and Zoology taken together).
Aggregate Criteria: Candidates must have an aggregate of 140/200 in these subjects calculated as per the formula, [B+(P+C)/2], where B stands for marks obtained by candidate in Biology, P stands for marks obtained by candidate in Physics and C stands for marks obtained by candidate in Chemistry.
Qualifying marks for BC candidates are 60% in each mandatory subject and 130/200 aggregate marks; 55% in each mandatory subject and 120/200 aggregate for MBC; and 40% in each mandatory subject and 80/200 aggregate for SC/ST candidates.
Interested students must have passed in all subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic), or any other equivalent examination in one and the same attempt in the subjects. No “improvement marks” for 10+2 examination will be considered.
Candidates must fulfill the percentage criteria along with aggregate criteria to be eligible for CMC Vellore MBBS 2017.
A major part of seats in CMC Vellore MBBS 2017 are allotted through sponsorship. CMC, Vellore offers sponsorship to eligible Christian candidates against 84% of seats.

CMC advises all the sponsoring bodies to favor the eligible candidates belonging to weaker section of society for sponsorship.
The certification for sponsorship is offered to candidates belonging to Christian faith if they or their families have maintained a meaningful relationship with a church for at least a period of 10 years.
The registration fee for sponsorship is INR 750. No extra amount against registration fee in any form can be charged by sponsoring body.
Indian sponsoring bodies can only sponsor Indian students.
Obligatory Service: Sponsorship imposes agreement between the candidate and sponsoring body, by which the candidate agrees to serve for a minimum period of two years in one of the institutions of the sponsoring body. This obligation is ensured by CMC, Vellore.
Candidates should provide a written agreement between themselves and the sponsoring body over a valid stamp paper.
Obligation for service should be discharged in terms or service and NOT through financial compensation. Candidates and their parents are required to sign a written obligation mentioning the same.
Sponsored candidates are also required to fulfill the minimum CMC MBBS 2017 Eligibility Requirements.
Only one candidate from one family is allowed to claim admission under sponsored category.
Any Christian Church or Christian Organization which is a member of the CMC Vellore Association and any other Christian Body which operates its own medical work in India or neighboring countries, and which fulfills the criteria is eligible to sponsor candidates for MBBS course run by CMC, Vellore, provided the organization does not run the said course. The Christian Medical College, Vellore, is also a recognized sponsoring body and can sponsor students.
