CMAT Registration

CMAT Registration- The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) made available CMAT Application Form 2017 from October 10 till December 25, 2017. CMAT Registration was to be completed online, at the official website of AICTE-CMAT.

Here are some key points about CMAT Registration:

  • Before proceeding to register for Common Admission Management Test (CMAT), it was mandatory for a candidate to have at least 50% marks (unreserved category) in his Bachelor's degree. Check  CMAT Eligibility
  • CMAT Application Form was to be obtained from and all requisite details were to be filled. 
  • Then, the candidates were required to upload the asked documents and pay CMAT Registration Fee.
  • The application form was to be printed for further use. Only the candidates who successfully registered appeared for CMAT.
  • It must be noted that CMAT Application Form was not available in offline mode.

CMAT 2017 was successfully held on January 28, 2017. The results for the same were declared in February 2017. All selected candidates will be able to pursue a postgraduate program of Management (PGDM, MBA, etc.) in CMAT Score Accepting Colleges.

CMAT Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates should carefully go through the eligibility criteria for CMAT before filling up the online CMAT 2017 Application Form.
  • Any applicant failing to meet the eligibility criteria at any stage of CMAT Registration will be debarred from taking part in subsequent stages of the admission process.
  • Candidates applying for CMAT are required to fulfill the following requirements:
  1. Candidate should be a citizen of India.
  2. Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in any stream.
  3. Candidates who are appearing for final year of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) and whose result will be declared before commencement of admission, can also apply for CMAT.

How to Register for CMAT?

CMAT Registration 2017 concluded on December 25, 2017. The application form was available online on the AICTE-CMAT official website. There are essentially three steps to register yourself successfully for CMAT. These include:

  1. Registration for CMAT 2017
  2. Filling CMAT 2017 Application Form
  3. Application Fee Payment

Here are the step-wise instructions to complete CMAT Registrations:

Step 1- Registration Process

  • The Registration Process is the first step of CMAT Application Process.
  • Candidates have to provide their basic details to complete the registration process.
  • A system-generated Unique Password would be sent to the registered email ID of the candidates after completion of CMAT 2017 Registration Process.
  • Use this password to log-in and complete further CMAT Registration steps.

Candidates are advised to follow the steps below to complete the Registrations for CMAT 2017.

  1. Visit the official website of AICTE-CMAT i.e.
  2. Click on NEW USER
  3. Fill the details and click ‘SUBMIT’
  4. On clicking submit, a 6-digit password will be displayed on the screen and would be sent to via SMS and email
  5. For subsequent login sessions, candidates need to click on the EXISTING USER and login with the registered email id and unique password. Here is how the window will look like:

How to retrieve CMAT Password?

Candidates have the option to complete CMAT Registration in multiple sessions also. However, if candidates fail to remember their password, they can simply follow the below steps to recover it:

  1. Visit the official site of CMAT i.e.
  2. Click on “Forgot Password?” link under Existing User Login Tab
  3. Enter the Registered Email Address
  4. A new password would be sent on registered Email ID

Step 2- Filling up of CMAT Application Form

After registering yourself successfully, you will be required to fill CMAT 2017 Application Form. Candidate must fill in their details correctly in the Application Form in order to avoid rejection. The steps to fill application form are explained below:

  1. Read the instructions given and fill all the required fields accurately
  2. Fill your personal details. This is how the form will look like:

  1. After filling the form, click on VIEW/MODIFY button which allows you to check the form and make any changes in the details you if you want
  2. Now accept the declaration and click on I AGREE
  3. Click on SUBMIT
  4. A confirmation message will appear on the screen confirming the successful submission of the form
  5. Click on PREVIEW button which will display the form you have submitted. Candidates can also take the printout of the form

Step 3- Fee Payment

The next step after filling up the online Application Form is to remit CMAT Registration Fee. The application fee for different categories is as follows:-

Candidates can pay CMAT Registration Fee through following modes:-

Option 1- Online Mode

The payment of the application fee can be done through Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card. Here’s how you can pay your CMAT Registration Fee in online mode:

1. Select the mode through which you want to pay (Net banking/Credit Card/Debit Card)

2. Check the declaration box and select 'I agree'.

3. Click on Submit and Pay button.

4. The dialog box directing to the payment will appear.

5. Fill the details as per the requirement.

6. After you have made the payment, an email and a SMS confirming the successful submission of application will be sent to the registered mail ID and mobile number by the CMAT Authorities.

Option 2- Offline Mode

Candidates can also use the offline option to pay CMAT Registration Fee. Here’s how you can pay your CMAT Registration Fee in offline mode:

1. Select the option pay by CASH at any of the designated SBI Branch only.

2. After selecting this option, a challan will appear on the screen with your details filled in.

3. Take 3 print outs of the challan copy and fill the necessary details in all the three copies.

4. Move in to the nearest SBI Branch the next day and deposit the cash.

5. The bank will give you one copy of challan with stamp and a journal number written on it.

6. After depositing the cash, wait for 48 hours.  Within 48 hours of payment at bank you will receive an email or SMS confirming that the payment has been updated on your registration portal.

7. The last day to pay by cash in bank is December 11, 2017 which will complete your registration by December 13, 2017.

After successfully applying for CMAT 2017, you will see a confirmation message as below:

Documents Required for CMAT Registration

Candidates need to keep ready a few documents and details before they proceed to complete the Application Process. It is mandatory to upload the requisite documents at the time of form-filling. Make sure all details in these documents are true and correct.

  • All the qualification details of the candidates required at the time of Registration
  • Scanned Clear Photograph on a white background. Size of the photograph must be 140 x 160 (≤60 Kb)
  • Scanned clear Signature on a white background. Size of the signature must be 60 x 90 (≤30 Kb)
  • Valid Email Id for all official communications. The email Id which must be active for next 6 months
  • Valid Mobile number for communication through SMS
  • Valid debit/credit card (in case of online payment)
  • 3 copies of bank challan (in case of offline payment)

CMAT 2017 Admit Card

  • The admit card for CMAT 2017 would be issued only to the candidates who successfully complete CMAT Registrations.
  • CMAT Admit Card is a mandatory document for appearing in theentrance exam as well as required in the later stages of counselling and admission process.
  • CMAT 2017 Admit card will be available on official website from January 13, 2017 onwards.
  • Candidates can  download it via the following steps:-

  1. Go to the official website of AICTE-CMAT i.e.
  2. Click on the admit card link
  3. Enter required details such as application number, date of birth and password
  4. Click on download button
  5. Take print for further use

Note: The competent authority will not send CMAT Admit Card through post or any other medium. The admit card will contain Candidate’s photograph, signature, personal details and test venue which must be thoroughly verified by the candidate before downloading and any discrepancy should be reported to the CMAT office at the earliest

CMAT Registration FAQs

Q. Is there any problem if I use my parent’s email id for CMAT Registration?

Ans: Candidates are advised not to use any other email id while registering for CMAT 2017, as all communication are made through it. Make sure the email id is unique and valid. Also, the ID should be active for next 7-8 months at least.

Q. How many candidates are expected to register for CMAT 2017?

Ans: Last year, we saw nearly 72000 registrations. For CMAT 2017, the numbers are expected to rise.

Q. Can I purchase CMAT Application Form from AICTE in offline mode?

Ans: No, the option to fill the application form is online only. All desirous candidates can visit to fill the online form.

Q. Is it possible if I pay my fee through bank demand draft or cheque? Where do I have to pay my fee?

Ans: No, the option to pay the fee through bank demand draft or cheque is not available. It must be paid either online or by cash. To remit the fee by cash, candidates have to generate 3 copies of the challan & take printout and visit SBI branch the next day to deposit the cash.

Q. The last date for registration is December 25, 2017. So, if I generate challan on December 24 and make the payment the next day, will I be able to appear in the test? 

Ans: Yes, you can appear in CMAT even if you generate challan on December 14 and submit cash the next day because for all the existing users who have generated their challan, can complete their application process by December 25, 2017.

Q. Is there any provision to edit CMAT application form?

Ans: Candidates will not be able to modify any information after submission of the application form. However, in case a form-correction window is opened by AICTE, we will update it here.

Q. I have registered for CMAT 2017 and submitted the fee too but now I want to cancel it? Will my fee be refunded?

Ans: No, refund of fee and withdrawal of application is not allowed under any circumstances.

Q. In case I don’t appear in the test, will my fee be refunded?

Ans: No, this will not be possible.
