CLAT 2017 Result

CLAT Result will be announced on May 29, 2017. The result can be checked on the CLAT official website. Candidates appearing for the exam can download their score card using their Login details. An overall merit list along with the CLAT 2017 Score will be prepared according to the candidate’s category. In addition, state specific and all India merit lists will be prepared for various categories of Applicant’s like- General/ OBC/ SC/ ST/ Women/ SAP (Specially Abled Person) etc.

How to Check CLAT Result 2017?

CLAT 2017 Results will be out on May 29, 2017. Candidates appearing in CLAT 2017 on May 14, 2017 can check their result on the official website. The complete merit list according to the marks scored will be displayed on the website. To check the CLAT 2017 result you may need to follow the following steps:

  • Open the CLAT Official website-
  • Click on result link
  • Login using CLAT 2017 User ID and Password

  • Now you will able to see the CLAT 2017 result and Score Card
  • Download the CLAT 2017 Score Card

Note: CLAT 2017 Score Card is a very important document and must carry at the time of CLAT 2017 Counselling.

CLAT 2017 Merit List

  • Candidates will be selected on the basis of CLAT 2017 merit list
  • In CLAT exam the candidate should have scored at least 45% marks for Unreserved/ OBC and PWD category
  • And minimum 40% marks for SC/ST category candidates

CLAT 2017 Tie Breaking Process

As CLAT exam is conducted for UG and PG courses. And merit list for each course will be prepared separately. In case, two or more candidates secure the equal mark in the merit list then different tie break rule will be applicable for UG and PG as given below:

CLAT 2017 Tie-Breaking for UG: There is a procedure for tie breaking if the scores of two candidates or more than two candidates are equal. It will be done on the basis of conditions mentioned below in order of their applicability:  

  • First, the tie will be decided on the basis of marks scored in the legal aptitude section of CLAT 2017. The candidate with better score will move ahead in the merit list
  • In case the tie is not decided on the basis of first condition then the candidate with higher age will be placed higher on the merit list
  • If both the above mentioned conditions are not successful in breaking the tie then the decision will be made on the basis of computerized draw

CLAT 2017 Tie-Breaking for PG: CLAT committee will follow a tie-breaking process to decide merit list in case the scores of two or more than two participants are equal. The tie will be decided on the basis of following criterion in order of applicability:

  • The tie will be first decided on the basis of age. Candidate with higher age will be ranked higher on the merit list
  • In case, the tie is not decided by age criterion then the computerized draw will be used to break the tie.

CLAT 2017 Previous Year Cut off

The most important thing in the CLAT is that there is no minimum cutoff marks to qualify the exam. The candidature of each candidate is considered in respective category in order of merit. Candidates may check the CLAT previous year cutoff in the below table to get an idea about the CLAT expected cutoff marks for your admission to 17 NLUs and Other institutes accept CLAT score card. CLAT 2017 Marking Scheme

CLAT 2017 exam will be held in online mode and consist of 200 MCQs for UG and 150 MCQs for PG Courses exam. Duration of the exam will 2 hours for both UG and PG. Each of the questions will have four options and you will be required to mark the most appropriate option among them.

  • 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer
  • 1/4 mark (0.25 mark) will be deducted for each wrong answer

Note: In case, you tick on more than one answer then it will be considered as wrong answer and negative marking will be applicable (even if one of the marked options for the question is correct).

CLAT 2017 Counselling Process

CLAT 2017 is an online Counselling process and it has the following steps. Candidates who have secured the position in the merit list need to do the given steps for final seat allotment. 

  • Preference of Universities/ Institutes
  • Online Counselling
  • Final Allotment

Preference of Institutes

  • Candidate who got placed in the merit list are then called for an online Counselling
  • The first list of merit will be published and after that
  • Candidates will have to give their preference of choice of NLUs in online Counselling

Online Counselling

Selected candidates from various categories will be called for Counselling against the actual number of available seats in all NLUs

  • Selected candidates will have to pay Counselling charge Rs.50,000/- (refundable) either via bank challan or online mode
  • If any candidates withdrawing from the admission process then the fees will be refunded after deduction of Rs.10,000/- as processing fee
  • If the candidates name appears on the waiting list after the payment of Counselling fees and fail to get the admission then the amount will be refunded to candidate
  • Candidates are required to fill up all the available choices of National Law Universities for the UG course in order of their preference, during the online counselling

Final Seat Allotment

  • The final seat allotment list will be published after the counselling on the CLAT official website
  • If required, the CLAT Office will publish three more times the Subsidiary List of candidates allotted to various Universities.

Students secured the name in the CLAT 2017 merit list need to carry the following documents at the time of CLAT 2017 Counselling.

  • CLAT Admit Card
  • Call Letter issued by CLAT authority
  • Original Documents of class 12th certificates
  • DOB certificate or its proof
  • Original certificates for SC/ST/OBC/BC/EBC and PWD etc. candidates
  • Current passport size photographs
