CEED 2017 ELIGIBILITY

CEED 2017 Eligibility

All the candidates applying for CEED 2017, must make sure that they fulfill the CEED Eligibility. Also, these criteria will be verified, along with all the mandatary documents and the CEED 2017 score, by the CEED Participating Colleges, when the candidates go for their admissions. There is no upper age limit to appear for CEED Exam. A candidate is also free to register and appear for CEED any number of times. A candidate, if found failing to satisfy even one of these criteria, will not be considered for admission and his application will be rejected.

CEED 2017 (Common Entrance Examination for Design) is a national level exam, conducted annually for admissions into the post graduate programmes of design at premier institutes of the country. CEED 2017 will be conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB). The CEED 2017 Score Card will be valid for a period of one year from the date of CEED Result declaration.


CEED 2017 Eligibility 

The candidates are required to satisfy the CEED 2017 Eligibility before beginning the CEED 2017 Registration. The candidates must note that the minimum age requirement to appear for CEED 2017 is 21 years. There is no upper age limit to apply for any programme through CEED 2017. The CEED 2017 Eligibility Criteria is given below:

  • The candidate must have pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture/Design/Interior Design or any equivalent 4 years programme after 10+2.

                                                                              OR

  • The candidate must have obtained a Professional Diploma in Design such as NID/CEPT or any equivalent of 4 years programme after 10+2

                                                                              OR

  • The candidate must have passed the 4 year professional programme in Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) after 10+2

                                                                             OR

  • The candidate must have pursued a 5 year programme after 10th in G.D. Art with one year post qualification professional experience

                                                                              OR

  • The candidate must have a Master’s degree in Arts/ Science/ Computer Applications (2 year programme after 10+2+3)

Final year students about to graduate in any of the above courses are also eligible to apply provided they show proof of passing during admissions. The candidates who have cleared any 3 year programme in design are not eligible to apply for CEED 2017.

CEED 2017Eligibility Criteria for Participating Institutes

Different CEED 2017 Participating institutes have different eligibility criteria for admissions in the desired courses. The candidates must satisfy the Eligibility Criteria of CEED 2017 for different institutes to seek admissions in their desired institutes. The CEED Exam Eligibility for the various participating institutes is summarised in the table below:

IISc Bangalore

A recognized Bachelor’s degree in engineering / design / architecture.

IIT Bombay

A minimum of 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST) or equivalent grades in the

qualifying examination as listed below-

For Industrial Design

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design, or equivalent

Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT, or equivalent).

For Mobility and Vehicle design

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design, or equivalent.

Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT, or equivalent).

BF (4 year professional programme in Fine art/Commercial art after 10+2).

For Visual Communication, Animation and Interaction Design

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design, or equivalent.

Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT, or equivalent).

B.F.A. (4 year professional programme, after 10+2).

G.D. Art (5 year programme after 10th) with one year professional experience.

Master’s degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications.

IIT Delhi

Only for graduates in Engineering and Architecture.

Must have a valid CEED score; GATE score will not be considered.

A minimum CGPA of 6.75 on a 10 point scale or 60% marks in aggregate (for General Category and OBC Non-Creamy Layer)

For the SC/ST Category, this is relaxed by 5%.

IIT Guwahati

4-year Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Design, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or a Design related field OR 4-year Professional Diploma in Design of NID or Professional Diploma of CEPT (5-year programme).

A minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grades in the qualifying degree/diploma

All candidates (except those having B.Tech/B.Des degrees from an IIT with a minimum CPI of 7.0) must possess a valid score of CEED.

IIT Hyderabad

For M.Des.

Must have a valid CEED score

A minimum of 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST) or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination given below –

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design or equivalent (4 years duration after 10+2).

Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent of 4 years duration after 10+2).

B.F.A. (4 year professional programme, after 10+2).

G.D. Art (5 year programme after 10th) with one year post qualification, professional experience.

Master’s degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications (2 year programme after10+2+3).

For PhD

M.Des. / M.Arch. / M.Tech. / M.Phil. / MFA / M.A / M.Sc / Postgraduate Diploma in Design of NID, Ahmedabad OR equivalent

Also, either one of the following –

A minimum of 55 percent marks (50% marks for SC/ST) in the final academic year of the programme.

A minimum of 55 percent marks (50% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate or as specified by the university.

A first class as specified by the university

A minimum CPI of 5.5 (5.0 CPI for SC/ST) on the scale of 10; with corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than on 10

All candidates are required to upload one zip file containing the following:

(a) PhD proposal (b) Portfolio of work and/or publications

IIT Kanpur

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture

A valid CEED/GATE score are eligible to apply for the two-year Master of Design Programme.

Candidates holding degrees in Fine Arts or Interior Design are NOT eligible to apply.


CEED 2017 Seat Reservation

There is a provision for reservation of certain number of seats for candidates belonging to various reserved categories. The category rank for CEED 2017 will be prepared based on the category provided by the candidate in the CEED 2017 Application form.

  • A candidate who seeks admission under Scheduled Category (SC) Category or Scheduled Tribe (ST) Category will be required to submit the requisite certificate issued by a competent authority along with the CEED 2017 application form for admission. If the candidate fails to provide any applicable certificates, his candidature may be liable for rejection.
  • A candidate who seeks admission under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Category will be required to submit an OBC certificate, along with the CEED application form for admission. In case of non-compliance of OBC non-creamy layer certificate with the prescribed format, the candidate will be considered in the General Category.

No opportunity will be given to the candidate for late submission under any circumstances. Hence, candidates are advised to submit all necessary documents on time.

  • For Person with Disability (PwD) candidates who may have any category of disability (such as blindness or low vision, hearing impairment, locomotor disability or cerebral palsy), the candidate will be eligible for benefit only in case they have at least 40% permanent physical impairment in relation to a body part/system/extremity/ whole body.
  • Such candidates will be required to submit, along with the Application Form, the certificate of disability from a Government Medical Board. These candidates should be fit to pursue the programme at the time of admission as well.
  • The percentage of disability of candidates selected for admission under PwD Category will also be required to be certified by a Medical Board. This Medical Board must be one that has been constituted by the admitting institute.

Some important points to be noted by the candidates are:

  • The provisions for the reserved seats mentioned are subject to modification in accordance with any Government order.
  •  It will entirely be the responsibility of a candidate to prove their eligibility for admission in terms of minimum educational qualifications and other parameters as well as for claiming reservation under a specific category.

SC/STCertificate Issuing Authority

The candidates claiming the CEED 2017 Reservation under SC/ST category must submit the category certificate issued by the following authorities during the CEED 2017 Registration:

District Magistrate or Additional District Magistrate or Collector or Deputy Commissioner or Additional Deputy Commissioner or Deputy Collector or

1st Class Stipendary Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Magistrate or Taluka Magistrate or Executive Magistrate or Extra Assistant Commissioner (not below the rank of 1stclass Stipendiary Magistrate) or Chief Presidency Magistrate or Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate or Presidency Magistrate or

Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar or Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate or his / her family normally resides or Administrator/Secretary to Administrator/Development Officer (Lakshadweep Island)
