BCECE Exam Pattern 2017 is defined by BCECE Board (Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board). It is the conducting body of the state level exam. The exam is conducted in two phases- Stage 1 and Stage 2. The first exam of BCECE is the qualifying examination. Candidates qualifying Stage 1 are eligible to appear for Stage 2. Both the exams will be conducted in offline mode. The questions will be of objective type. Each correct answer carries 4 marks and 1 mark is deducted for a wrong answer.

Due to some unavoidable reason, the exam has been postponed. BCECE Board will update and publish the exam schedule shortly. Candidates seeking admission in Engineering, Medical and Agriculture courses offered in institutes/ universities in Bihar have to appear for BCECE 2017. The medium of answering is bilingual. A candidate can choose English or Hindi as the mode of answering. Duration of Stage 1 is 2 hours 15 minutes and Stage 2 will be of 1 hour 30 minutes (for each section). A course group is specified for every program.

  • For engineering program, PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) is the course group
  • For medical program, PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) is the course group
  • For agriculture program, CBA (Chemistry, Biology and Architecture) is the name of the group

BCECE 2017 Exam Pattern 

Stage 1

BCECE 2017 Exam Pattern differs for both BCECE 2017 Stage 1 and BCECE 2017 Stage 2 examination. The highlights of Stage 1 of BCECE 2017 Exam Pattern are:

  • BCECE 2017 Exam Pattern Stage 1 has four sections namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
  • The duration of the entire examination is 2 hours 15 minutes.
  • It is mandatory to attempt Physics and Chemistry section.
  • Candidates applying for Engineering have to attempt Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics section
  • Candidates who desire admissions in medical courses must attempt Physics, Chemistry and Biology section or all the four sections.
  • Candidates applying for agriculture courses have to attempt Chemistry, Biology and Agriculture.
  • Each section has 50 questions which make the total number of questions for engineering course (PCM) 150.
  • Each section for medical course (PCB) contains 50 MCQ questions which make total number of questions for the course 150.
  • The total marks for BCECE 2017 Stage 1 are 600.
  • Candidate will be awarded 4 marks for every correct answer and 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.

Stage 2

Candidates who qualify BCECE 2017 Stage 1 examination can appear for BCECE 2017 Stage 2 examination. The important points about BCECE 2017 Exam Pattern Stage 2 are:

  • The examination consists of different papers for each section attempted in BCECE 2017 Stage 1 examination.
  • There shall be a gap of 30 minutes between two consecutive papers.
  • The question booklet will be in English with Hindi translations under every English translation of the questions.
  • BCECE 2017 Exam Pattern Stage 2 consists of four separate papers namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Agriculture.
  • The duration for each section is 90 minutes.
  • Each paper comprises of 100 multiple choice questions.
  • The total marks for each paper are 400. Thus, total score of the BCECE 2017 Stage 2 is 1200.
  • Every correct answer carries 4 marks. 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.
  • Candidates have to attempt only those papers which they have attempted in BCECE 2017Stage 1 examination.
  • Thus, candidates who desire admissions in Engineering have to give the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics papers in the BCECE 2017 Stage 2 examination.
  • Candidates willing to take admissions in Medical courses have to give Physics, Chemistry and Biology papers or all the four sections in BCECE 2017 Stage 2 examination.

Categorization of Candidates in BCECE 2017- Stage 1

  • Candidates who have cleared or are appearing for I.SC. /10+2 or any equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the subjects are considered in the PCM group. The candidates who desire to appear for Engineering in BCECE 2017 Stage 2 examination are advised attempt Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics section in BCECE 2017 Stage 1 examination.
  • Candidates who have passed or are appearing for I.SC. /10+2/ or any equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the subjects are considered in the PCB group. Candidates who wish to attempt Physics, Chemistry and Biology papers in BCECE 2017 Stage 2 examination are advised to attempt Physics, Chemistry and Biology section in BCECE 2017 Stage 1 examination.
  • Candidates who satisfy the BCECE 2017 Eligibility Criteria for all the subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology are considered in the PCMB group. The candidates of this group have to compulsorily attempt Physics and Chemistry section in BCECE 2017 Stage 1 examination. The candidates who attempt Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in BCECE 2017 Stage 1 examination but belonging to the PCMB group are considered in PCM group. The candidates who belong to PCMB group but attempt Physics, Chemistry and Biology in BCECE 2017 Stage 1 examination are considered in PCB group.
  • The application fee for the PCMB group will be higher in comparison to the PCB or PCM group.
  • The number of candidates who qualify for BCECE 2017 Stage 2 examination is 4 times more than the total number of seats available.

Categorization of Candidates in BCECE 2017-Stage 2

  • Candidates who attempt papers under the PCM group in BCECE 2017 Stage 1 examination have to appear for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics examination in BCECE 2017 Stage 2 examination.
  • Candidates who attempt the sections under PCB group in BCECE 2017 Stage 1 examination have to attempt Physics, Chemistry and Biology examination in BCECE 2017 Stage 2 examination.
  • Candidates who belong to PCMB group and attempt sections under the PCM or PCB group have to attempt Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics in BCECE 2017 Stage 2 examination.
  • The scores obtained by candidates in their respective examinations are considered to prepare separate merit lists.
  • The candidates belonging to the PCM group are allotted the seats by considering their position in the merit list, their eligibility and their order of preference of course in the course column of the BCECE 2017 Application Form.
  • The courses offered to the candidates in PCM group are Engineering, Architecture, Agricultural Engineering and Diary Technology.
  • Candidates who belong to PCB group are allotted seats considering the eligibility, the position in the merit list and the order of course preference among Medical Science/BDS/Veterinary/Unani Science/Homeopathy/Fishery Science/Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy
  • Candidates who belong to the PCMB group are allotted the seats for Agriculture/Forestry/Pharmacy/Biotechnology on the basis of the position in the merit list, the eligibility and the order of preference of course in the course column of BCECE 2017 Application Form.
