ATMA Exam Pattern

ATMA 2017 is an online based exam containing 180 questions. All the questions will be multiple choice questions. The question paper consists of 6 sections. The total duration for ATMA 2017 is 3 hours. The ATMA Exam Pattern will cover 3 types of question Verbal Skills, Analytical Reasoning Skills, Quantitative Skills. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

ATMA does not require any prior knowledge of business or any other subject area. It does not measure a candidate’s achievement in any particular subject area. ATMA 2017 is designed to assess the aptitude to think and solve the problems in a less span of time and primarily consists of three subject fields.

Candidates are advised to read all the instructions and the exam pattern of ATMA. ATMA will be held on May 28, 2017. There will be 30 questions in all 6 sections of the question paper. The questions will be objective type. A duration of 30 minutes will be allotted to complete each section. It is not necessary to attempt the question paper serial wise. Important Instructions for the ATMA

ATMA 2017 will be held on 24th July. It will be an online exam. All the candidates must read all the instructions on the e-admit card carefully. Following is the Marking Scheme for ATMA 2017 and some instructions to be followed by the candidates taking ATMA 2017:

  • One mark will be rewarded for every correct answer.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer. So, for every four incorrect answers, one mark will be deducted from the total marks.
  • For every question not answered, no mark will be deducted or rewarded.
  • All the questions will be multiple choice based questions, with four options, 1, 2, 3 and 4. Choose the correct or the best option.
  • Click “Next” to skip the present question to the next one.
  • The answer can be revised by clicking to the question number on the answer sheet on the screen.
  • Information like the time spent, attempted and unattempted questions will always be available on the screen.
  • Read all the directions before starting with the questions.
  • After answering one questions, the candidate will be automatically redirected to the next question.
  • A candidate can click on “End Test” to close the test at any point of time.
  • If the test gets disrupted at any stage, it can be restarted by logging in again.
  • If the test is restarted by the candidate, the attempted answers cannot be changed. However, the interrupted time will not be added to the total time.

ATMA Syllabus

The ATMA 2017 Syllabus consist of three topics which are further divided into 6 categories. Each section will consist of 30 questions based on the topics like Verbal Skills, Quantitative Anility and Analytical Reasoning Ability. Following is the Syllabus of ATMA 2017.

Verbal Skills:

This section will contain questions from the English language test to test the ability to comprehend and analyze the reading comprehension. Questions like sentence correction, sentence completion will be asked which test the observing ability of a candidate and point the minute errors. Questions like synonyms and word meanings will be asked to check the vocabulary of the candidate in English language.

Quantitative Skills:

These questions will test the candidate’s flexibility to think and their ability to manage the time. Following topics will be covered:

Number System, Allegation, Average, Percentages, Profit and Loss, Interest, Ratio and Proportion Variation, Time and Work, Time, Distance and Time, Geometry, Mensuration, Functions, Set Theory, Permutation and Combination, Probability, Progression, Inequalities, Coordinate Geometry, Quadratic Equation, Logarithm.

Analytical Reasoning Skills:

This section will comprise of questions where candidate have to choose the best option with logical thinking. No specific knowledge is required for this section. This section however, tests the ability to analyse the situation and choose the best option. Each set of the questions is based on a passage of or set of conditions. The candidates must choose the best option as per the conditions.

ATMA Paper Analysis

The paper of ATMA has been consistently alike as the previous years. The question pattern has 6 sections of 30 questions each. Even the overall difficulty of the paper did not vary so much. There were 3 categories of the questions i.e. verbal, analytical reasoning and quantitative skills from easy to moderate level of difficulty. Following is the paper analysis of ATMA 2015:

  1. Analytical Reasoning

This topics had two sections with 30 questions in each section. The questions in the sections had questions from verbal and logical reasoning. The questions in both the sections were similar.

Section 1 and section 2 of the previous years ATMA Question papers had questions on Syllogisms and Arrangements, Analogies, Puzzles, Data sufficiency and Visual Reasoning Questions. The Verbal Reasoning questions in section I included questions on Course of Action, Analogies, Syllogisms, True/False questions, Statement/Conclusion questions, Statement/Inference questions and Statement Assumption question. Questions in both the sections are similar. A candidate should be able to attempt 90% of the questions in this section for a good attempt and should finish this section in less than 30 minutes.

  1. Quantitative Ability

Both the sections of Quantitative Ability have similar type of questions. Looking at the pattern of the previous years questions, first section had Arithmetic Questions as most of their questions. The other section was dominated by Number Problems. Both the sections had 30 questions and the difficulty level varied from easy to moderate. Each section had a set of 6 questions on Data Interpretation. For a good attempt, one should not take more than 45-50 minutes to solve these section.

  1. Verbal Ability

Both the sections of this category had 30 questions. The first section was dominated by Grammar questions which included the topics like determiners, verbs, prepositions and articles, with only one questions of RC Passage. The passage was of 700-800 words and the difficulty level was easy to moderate. The RC Passage was followed by a set of 6 questions. Section 1 also involved questions on Synonyms and Fill in the Blanks. Section 2 had the questions on synonyms, correct statement and incorrect statement. Candidate must not take more than 25 minutes these sections with an accuracy of 90%.
