AIPVT 2017 Eligibility

Candidates should carefully go through the AIPVT 2017 Eligibility Criteria before applying for AIPVT 2017. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria laid down by VCI are only eligible to apply. In case, candidates are found to provide inaccurate information or fail to meet eligibility criteria at any stage, then their candidature is bound to be cancelled.

Veterinary Council of India (VCI) will conduct AIPVT (All India Pre-Veterinary Test ) for offering admissions to first year of B.V.Sc & A.H. Course, under 15% of All India Quota Seats in Veterinary Colleges in India (except from the State of Jammu & Kashmir). AIPVT  Application Process commences on Jan 8, 2017 and ends on Feb 7, 2017. It will continue till March 1, 2017 with late fees.


Eligibility Criteria to Apply for AIPVT 2017

The candidates planning to appear for AIPVT 2017 are required to satisfy certain eligibility criteria before applying. These criteria would include minimum educational qualification, nationality, age limit, etc. Every candidate is advised to go through the specific criteria carefully, as failure to meet any of them could lead to their disqualification from exam or any subsequent processes. They are discussed at length below:


AIPVT 2017 Eligibility Criteria- Age Limit and Nationality

The Applicants should be an Indian National (except from the State of Jammu & Kashmir).

An Indian citizen who is 17 years old or is going to attain it by December 31, 2017 is eligible to give AIPVT 2017. The upper age limit for candidates seeking admission under 15% All India Quota and participating States is 25 years, as on Dec. 31, 2017. An applicant must be a Citizen of India (except from the State of Jammu & Kashmir).

The relaxation in upper age limit for candidates who belong to SC/ST/OBC-NCL is five years. The period during which the candidates should be born is mentioned below:

AIPVT 2017 Eligibility Criteria- Educational Qualification

A candidate who has passed Higher Secondary or any other examination equivalent to 10+2, from recognized Indian Board or University after a period of 12 years of study is eligible to apply for AIPVT.

He / She must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology (including practical tests) and English as core subjects with an elective in the last two years as approved by the National Council for Educational Research and Training.

OR

A candidate who has passed Intermediate Examination from recognized Indian Board or University in science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (including practical tests) and English as core subjects is eligible to apply.

Some key points related to Educational Qualification are

  1. Admissions to first year of B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course would be offered only on the basis of his or her merit in AIPVT 2017. No other merit shall be taken into account for admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course.
  2. The Candidates from General Category must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from recognized Indian Board or University with minimum 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English to get admission into B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course.
  3. For SC/ST/OBC category candidates, the minimum aggregate marks to get admission into B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course is relaxed to 40%.
  4. In cases, where the seats reserved for the SC/ST Category candidates in any state cannot be filled because of the lack in number of required candidates from the specific categories, then in those cases seats will be filled on All India basis with students belonging to the SC/ST Category securing not less than the minimum aggregate percentage.
  5. A candidate appearing in the final year of 10+2 examination in March/April, 2017 is also eligible to apply for AIPVT 2017. However, the candidate will not be given admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. course, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with requisite marks on or before June 30, 2017. If the candidate is selected then he or she has to submit the proof at the time of counseling process.

Note: Mere fulfillment of all the eligibility criteria laid down by the competent authority does not mean that a candidate is entitled to get admission to the desired course. The admission to the course is purely based on the marks obtained by the candidate in the competitive exam.


AIPVT 2017 Eligibility Criteria- Physical Disability

The Applicants, including candidates who fall under the 15% reserved quota of Veterinary Council of India, would not be admitted to B.V.Sc & A.H. degree course if they are suffer from physical disabilities indicated below:

  1. Disability of total body including disability of chest/spine more than 50%,
  2. Disability of any one lower limb of more than 50%,
  3. Disability of upper limb,
  4. Visually Handicapped applicants
  5. Hearing Disability
  6. Candidates with progressive ailments
  7. Disabilities which otherwise would interfere in the performance of duties of a veterinarian.

Note: Candidates claiming reservation under Physical Disability quota are required to produce a valid Disability Certificate that is duly authorized by Medical Board and should not be more than 3 months old from the date of submission. The Medical Board should consist of at least three experts out of which two should be from the area of expertise concerned and the candidate has to attend the medical examination in-person.


AIPVT 2017 Eligibility Criteria- Jammu & Kashmir State

A candidate from the State of Jammu & Kashmir is not eligible for 15% All India Quota seats since the conditions of the Indian Veterinary Council Act 1984 have not been extended to the State of Jammu & Kashmir.

  1. If a candidate from the State of Jammu & Kashmir claim eligibility, then he or she has to upload Self Declaration, as per the prescribed proforma:
  1. He or she is not eligible to seek admission for B.V.Sc & A.H. Course in Veterinary Colleges in the State of Jammu & Kashmir
  2. He/she is not domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir
  1. Candidates should submit the scanned Self Declaration in original, along with Online Application Form, as per the prescribed format. Incomplete, unsigned or Xerox of self-declaration are not acceptable and the application is liable to be rejected.
  1. If the Self Declaration made by the candidates are found to be fake during or after verification, then the admission of all such candidates shall be cancelled and they will be legally penalized.
  1. A candidate from the State of Jammu & Kashmir has to submit an affidavit in the prescribed format on Non-Judicial Stamp Paper of Rs.10/- duly attested by Metropolitan Magistrate/ First Class Judicial Magistrate at the time of counseling process.

AIPVT 2017 Reservation Criteria

A student can get admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course only on the basis of his or her merit in AIPVT 2017. No other merit shall be taken into account for admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course. Based on the merit list, candidates will be given admission under 15% All India Quota Seats and seats under the control of participating States (other than 15% All India Quota).

Note: Creamy Layer OBC candidates and candidates whose names do not come under Central List of OBC are recommended to state his/her category as General.

Reservation in participating states in veterinary colleges for seats other than 15% all India quota are given below:

  1. In cases, where the state decides to give admission to the candidates in its Veterinary Colleges on the basis of the merit list of AIPVT 2017, it can prepare separate merit list based on AIR in AIPVT and any other additional criteria.
  2. Candidates who want to take admission in participating states for seats other than 15% All India Quota should be visit the official website on a regular basis to get the latest updates. He or she has to undergo the official admission procedure approved by the individual State/University.
  3. The reservation of seats in participating States would be done on the basis of State Reservation Policy.

State Code of Eligibility and Domicile State

For 15% All India Quota seats: An applicant has to select the State Code corresponding to the State to which he or she belongs.

For State Quota Seats (Other than 15% All India Quotas):  An applicant has to select the State Code after making sure his/ her eligibility as per criteria set by the participating State. The merit list for seats under control of participating States will be created on the basis of State Code of Eligibility given by the applicants in the Application Form.

Ques. What are the documents required by the candidates seeking admission under the category of Physical Disability?

Ans. A candidate must submit a valid Disability Certificate that is duly authorized by Medical Board and should not be more than 3 months old from the date of submission. The Medical Board must consists of at least three experts out of which two should be of the area of expertise concerned and the candidate has to be there in front of the Medical Board.

Ques. Is a candidate appearing in the final year of 10+2 examination eligible to appear for AIPVT 2017?

Ans. Yes, a candidate appearing in the final year of 10+2 examination in March/April, 2017 is also eligible to apply for AIPVT 2017. But the candidate will not be given admission if he or she does not pass the qualifying examination with requisite marks on or before 30th June, 2017.
