AIPGMEE 2017 Eligibility Criteria

AIPGMEE 2017 or All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination 2017 is conducted on All India Basis for admissions to various Post Graduate Medical Courses across India under 50% ALL India Quota. There is no prescribed limit for admissions in the PG courses for seats reserved under this 50% All India Quota. The candidates are required to hold an MBBS degree from a recognized institution to appear for AIPGMEE 2017.

Apart from this, the candidates must have completed compulsory rotatory internship and should be registered under the Medical Council of India or any of the State Medical Councils. The candidates must meet the eligibility criteria of AIPGMEE 2017 laid down by the National Board of Examination (NBE) failing which they will not be given admission in any Medical PG course.

States that have agreed to take AIPGMEE 2017 as the selection criteria for medical institutes in their area are listed below:

(c) Rajasthan

(d) Chandigarh

(e) IMS, BHU, Varanasi

(f) University of Delhi

(g) Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Jaipur

(h) RIMS, Imphal (for the beneficiary states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura)

(i) Madhya Pradesh

(j) Odisha

(k) Haryana

(l) Defense Institutions under AFMS

(m) Himachal Pradesh.

Other states will conduct a separate examination for admission to the seats in their respective state medical colleges.

AIPGMEE 2017 Eligibility

The candidates need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria to appear for the AIPGMEE 2017. Failing to meet any of the eligibility criteria, the candidate would be debarred from participating any further in the examination.

Please note that the candidates opting for admission under the Armed Forces category need to register themselves on the official website of AFMS.

Nationality and Domicile Criteria

  • The candidate must be an Indian Citizen.
  • Candidates who have passed their MBBS degree from any institution in Jammu and Kashmir or Telangana and Andhra Pradeshare not allowed to appear for the AIPGMEE 2017. However, candidates nominated by the central government to pursue medical education can apply for AIPGMEE 2017
  • The candidates who have been nominated by the Central Government need to submit an affidavit stating their nomination to

  • Candidates should take a print out of the acknowledgement slip of the submission of the online application for AIPGMEE 2017 and mail it along with the above mentioned affidavit

Qualifying Examinations

  • A candidate must have an M.B.B.S. degree from a recognized medical college or a foreign medical degree included in the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956
  • Candidates who have completed their MBBS from any institute not recognized by MCI will be debarred form the examination. The candidates are required to ensure that their institutions ,from where they have pursued their MBBS degree course or the Compulsory rotatory internship, are recognized on or before October 31, 2016;
  • Candidates appearing in the final year examination of their MBBS degree course should complete their MBBS degree on or before the cut-off date October 31, 2016.
  • The candidate must be registered with the medical council of India or any of the State Medical Councils after completing compulsory rotating internship

Other Eligibility Criteria AIPMGEE 2017

  • The candidates undergoing their one year internship should complete their internship by March 31, 2017. No request for relaxation of Compulsory Rotating Internship shall be accepted.
  • Candidates who are already pursuing a PG course from any other institution are requested to check the eligibility criteria for the colleges under AIPGMEE as some colleges do not allow admission to candidates who are already enrolled for PG courses in any other institution.
  • Candidate can register and appear for AIPGMEE -2017 only once for admission to the academic year 2016-2017.

Reservation of Seats in AIPGMEE 2017

As per the guidelines laid down by the constitution of India there is a percentage of seats reserved for the backward and schedules castes/tribes of India in the 50% All India Quota of AIPGMEE 2017.

Reservation for scheduled caste and scheduled tribe in AIPGMEE 2017

The NBE has reserved a percentage of seats in the AIPGMEE 2017. 15% of the seats in AIPGMEE 2017 are reserved for the scheduled caste candidates and & 7.5% of seats are reserved for the scheduled tribe. The candidates need to submit the caste performa along with the other documents at the time of admission in order to prove their reservations.

Reservation for OBC in AIPGMEE 2017

NBE has reserved seats for the non-creamy layer of other backward classes (OBC) in India on the basis of 200 point Reservation Roster, list of castes considered under this category, for allotment of PG seats in various medical institutes

If the OBC candidates have a Rank in the unreserved (UR) category as well as in OBC category, they have the right to claim either UR or OBC seats

Reservation for physically disabled candidates in AIPGMEE 2017

Disability

  • Candidates with physical disability in the lower limbs are applicable for this category.
  • Candidates with 50%-70% disability in the lower limbs can apply for the category. 3% seats in the AIPGMEE is reserved for such candidates.
  • If the seats still remain unfilled then the candidates with 40%-50% disability get a share of 3% seats in the AIPGMEE

Seat Reservation

  • They have to provide a prescription along with other documents during the admission process claiming your disability.

(A list all the hospitals has been listed in the of this article under the “Documents required at the time of admission for the reserved categories”. The prescription from any one of these would only be valid for taking admission under the reserved category for physically challenged.)

Reservation Criteria for Armed Forces Medical Institutions in AIPGMEE 2017

NBE has set reservation guidelines for the candidates belonging to an Indian Army background.

To take admission under AFMS category in AIPGMEE 2017 the candidates needs to fulfill any of the following criteria:

  1. Serving officers of AFMS
  2. Paramilitary IGO/ Sponsored officers
  3. Ex SSC officers of AFMS
  4. Civilians who have bond liability to serve AFMS

Applying for Reservation

  • The candidates applying for this category need to register themselves separately at the Armed Forces Military Service website. 
  • The candidates applying for this category cannot apply for any other reservation criteria.
  • The candidates need to tick on AFMS on the form when applying for the reservation
  • Candidates opting for this category will be given admission to the Armed Forces Medical Services institutions mentioned below only.

Documents Required by the Reserved Categories at the time of admission in AIPGMEE 2017

These are the documents which the candidates opting for any of the reservations need to submit at the time of admission, without these the candidates would not be given admission under the 50% All India Quota of AIPGMEE 2017

OBC reservationsA candidate applying for the reservation under OBC criteria must submit his/her OBC certificate issued by the competent authority which should clearly mention the sub-caste and it should tally with the Central List of OBC. The OBC candidates should not belong to Creamy Layer.
Physically Handicapped reservations

The Physically challenged category candidates need to send a scan copy of the certificate to the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) at aiqpg-mcc@nic.in

The candidates need to submit Orthopedic Physical Disability (Physically Handicapped) Certificate issued from a duly constituted and authorized Medical Boards.

For PWD (PH) seats, the qualified locomotor disabled candidates should get themselves certified at one of the under mentioned Disability Assessment Boards
