AIIMS PG 2017 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

AIIMS PG 2017 entrance exam is held in oline mode (computer-based test). AIIMS Question Paper will consist questions from Pre-clinical, Para-clinical and Clinical Phase. The total number of seats are 162 with subject wise division.

  •  AIIMS PG 2017 comprises of multiple choice questions.
  • Questions in AIIMS PG 2018 will be asked from the syllabus of MMBS programmes.
  • 1 mark will be rewarded for every correct answer.
  • 1/3 marks will be deducted for every correct answer.
  • For MS/MD applicants, the duration of exams is 3 hours.
  • For MDS applicants, the duration of exams is 1.5 hours.
  • The medium of exam is English language only.

AIIMS PG 2017 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The entrance exam for Postgraduate programs is different for MD/MS programme and MDS programme. Below is a detailed description of exam pattern for postgraduate courses

For MD/ MS Programme

  • It is an online exam and the length of the test is 3 hours.
  • There are total 200 multiple choice objective type questions of 200 marks.
  • Each right answer candidate will get 1 mark and for every wrong answer given 1/3 of the marks will be deducted.
  • The question paper will be in English only.

For MDS programme

  • The paper comprises of 90 multiple choice objective type questions of 1 mark each.
  • The exam is computer based and will be conducted in English only.
  • Candidate will lose 1/3 of the marks for each wrong answer attempted.
  • The period of the exam is 90 minutes.

AIIMS PG 2017 Marking Scheme

  • The question paper will provided either in English or in Hindi as per candidates’ preference stated in the Application form
  • Each question will have four alternatives, of which the candidates will have to select the right answer.
  • Each right answer will gain 1 mark
  • Each wrong answer will result in deduction of 1/3 mark

AIIMS PG 2017 Syllabus

AIIMS PG 2017 exam will cover topics from the qualifying exam as well as general medical concepts. The main sections for the exam are listed below.

The topics which will be covered in AIIMS PG 2017 are:

  • Pre-clinical - Physiology, Bio-chemistry, Anatomy
  • Para-clinical - Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, etc.
  • Clinical – Paediatrics, Obstetrics and gynaecology, Community Medicine, Medicine and allied subjects (Psychiatry, Dermatology), etc.
  • Surgery and allied subjects - Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, E.N.T., Anaesthesiology, etc.

AIIMS PG 2017 Important Instructions

The examination centre will be opened 2 hours and 30 minutes before the commencement of the test. No candidate shall be allowed to enter in the examination centre after 9:30 am. Therefore, candidates must reach the examination centre prior to the time

  • Candidates must carry the admit card to the examination centre.
  • A candidate who does not possess the valid admit card shall not be admitted to the examination hall under any circumstances
  • The candidate should report with downloaded admit card and with proforma which is an attachment of admit card with post card size photograph duly affixed on it, at the allotted examination centre
  • A seat with a roll number will be allotted to each candidate. Candidates must find out and occupy their allotted seats. If a candidate is found appearing in the test from a seat or room other than the allotted one to him/her, his/her candidature shall be cancelled
  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any material except the admit card and photographs inside the examination hall
  • Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the barred items to the venue as arrangement for safe keeping will not be made and candidates found in possession of these items will not be allowed entry in the examination centre  (Read: Don't wear kurta-pyjama, shoes for PG NEET 2017)
  • No candidate will leave his/her seat or the examination room/hall until the test concludes as per schedule. Candidates should not leave the room/hall without handing over their answer sheets to the invigilator on duty
  • Water bottles, tea, coffee, cold drinks or snacks etc. are not allowed to be taken by the candidates in the examination centre

Note: For those who are unable to appear on the scheduled date of test for any reason, re-test shall not beheld by the Board under any circumstances.
