ACLAT 2018 Exam Pattern

Alliance University Common Law Admission Test (ACLAT) 2018 will be conducted by Alliance University most likely in July 2018 for candidates seeking admission into undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and Ph.D. programs in law

  • ACLAT 2018 entails 200 questions.
  • Candidates will be required to answer only multiple choice questions (MCQs)
  • Candidate will be awarded 1 mark for each correct answer, while for every incorrect answer, candidate will lose 0.25 marks
  • Syllabus for B.B.A. LL. B. (Hons.), B.A. LL. B. (Hons.) and LL. M. will be same:
  1. Language Proficiency
  2. General Awareness
  3. Legal Aptitude
  4. Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
  5. Numerical Ability
  • Syllabus for Ph.D program will comprise:
  1. Research Methodology
  2. Area of choice of Interest selected for research by candidate
  3. Syllabus of PRE – Ph. D. Examination Paper I
  • ACLAT 2018 Exam will be conducted over a duration of two hours

ACLAT 2018 Exam Pattern in Detail

Examination pattern for ACLAT 2018 will be exactly same for UG and PG courses. However, there will be difference in syllabus of admission test for Ph.D course.

Exam Pattern for B.B.A. LL. B. (Hons.), B.A. LL. B. (Hons.) and LL. M.

  • A total of 200 questions will be asked.
  • Candidate will be given 2 hours (120 minutes) to complete the entire paper.
  • Questions will be asked from following areas - Language Proficiency, General Awareness, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability, Numerical Ability.
  • Candidate can secure a maximum of 200 marks in examination.
  • In online mode candidate will not have the option of selecting two answers for a single question
  • In offline mode, if candidate selects two answers for one question, it will be considered as incorrect answer
  • All MCQs will be asked only in English language

Exam Pattern for Ph.D

  • A total of 200 questions will be asked
  • Candidate will be given 2 hours (120 minutes) to complete the entire paper
  • Questions will be asked from following areas - Research Methodology, Area of Choice of Interest selected by candidate for research, General Introduction of Research, Literature survey and Proposal writing, Research Design and Study design, Data Collection Techniques and Interpretation, Research Reporting
  • Weightage of every section will be different
  • Candidate can secure a maximum of 200 marks in examination
  • For every correct answer, 1 mark will be given and for every incorrect answer 0.25 marks will be deducted
  • In online mode candidate will not have the option of selecting two answers for a single question
  • In offline mode, if candidate selects two answers for one question, it will be considered as incorrect answer

ACLAT 2018 Marking Scheme

Aspirants must be aware of marks that they will receive for correct answers and marks which will be deducted if they chose an incorrect answer. Also, candidates must know if any marks are deducted for choosing two answers for one question or not attempting an answer

  • Marking scheme of ACLAT entails awarding 1 mark for each correct answer
  • For every incorrect answer, candidate will lose 0.25 marks
  • Every question for which candidate has chosen two answers, instead of one, 0.25 marks will be deducted
  • Any question left unanswered will be considered as an incorrect answer and marked accordingly
  • Candidate can secure a maximum of 200 marks

ACLAT 2018 Syllabus

It is important for candidates to understand the syllabus from which questions will be asked in entrance exam. This helps aspirants to prepare appropriate topics and refraining from studying unnecessary topics.

  • Syllabus of B.B.A. LL. B. (Hons.), B.A. LL. B. (Hons.) and LL. M. Courses is same.
  • There will be questions from five domains - Language Proficiency, General Awareness, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability, Numerical Ability
  • Syllabus for Ph.D program is different, with questions to be asked from following 3 domains - Research Methodology, Area of Choice of Interest selected by candidate for research, Syllabus of Pre-Ph.D. Exam (Paper I)
  • Questions for B.B.A. LL. B. (Hons.) and B.A. LL. B. (Hons.) will be of 10+2 level
  • Question for LL. M. Will be of UG level

ACLAT 2018 Important Instructions

Candidates must keep in mind these significant points while attempting examination and filling OMR sheet

  • First page of OMR sheet must be filled with blue or black ball point pen only
  • Candidate must carefully fill details on first page since these details will be imperative while assessing his/her OMR sheet
  • The second side of OMR sheet, where answers need to be marked, candidate must only use HB pencil
  • Any mistake in marking the answer, must be corrected using an eraser
  • Candidate must completely erase first answer before marking another answer, otherwise OMR sheet reader will read two answers for same question and marks will be deducted
  • Candidate must ensure no wear and tear of OMR sheet otherwise OMR sheet reader will not be able to read it
  • No candidate will be given another OMR sheet
  • OMR sheet must not be carried outside examination hall
  • It must be duly signed by candidate and invigilator, otherwise candidate will be disqualified.
